Looking for a Mentor.

Young MPC user looking for someone to help him progress. I live in the South Bay Southern California. If anyone is interested please message back. Preferably someone who know how to play keys. Willing to pay for lessons.

I bought the DVDs and samples from this site on the MPC Ren and actually took my ren back before I even got the DVD's. I may end up getting another Ren once they get it right with the software or I see one for the right price. There are some pretty good videos on this site on the MPC's as well as other gear too. I actually talked on the phone with Harold ( Doc) for a long time about the Ren. Very cool and informative guy. I would def check this site out it helped me quite a bit. Be encouraged.

Save your money. Read your MPC manual, view YouTube vids and keep it locked on here, the MPC Forums.

this kid is looking for help. yes, anyone can read manuals and take classes, but he wants to learn from some of you..... this is your chance to have a protege. if he was in NY, i would take him up on his request. lots of producers either have or would want to have an apprentice learning from them.

can no one on the left coast help him out?

Well sure, likewise- if he were in my region then we'd talk, but until he does find someone local to show him the ropes in lesson-form, the manual/youtube videos/mpc-wizards here aren't a bad resource at all. :)

you're right. it just looked as tho ppl was dismissing his request, that's all.

Give the kid a break.

If any of you guys are in his area and can help out a young homie, hook him up.

If homie over 18, then tell him to RTFM or watch YouTube...

I know JUKE, it's just that in this Internet age it's all too easy to forget the value of human interaction especially when it comes to learning...one day maybe we'll have classrooms with no teachers, but not quite yet.

And we shouldn't take it for granted that everyone can read, or has great 20/20 vision either...

Okay so I just bought a Technics 1210 MK2 and I hooked the RCA cables into my MPC Renaissance but I get no sound. I am running the Audio Output and Input through my Universal Audio Apollo Quad audio interface but it doesn't seem to be working. The dB indicator above the Mic In and Phono In seems to light up when I use the RCA to RCA but the levels meter doesn't even move to show that it's receiving a signal. Then when I use my RCA to TS 1/4 Monster Cables the dB indicator doesn't even move. I have a phono pre amp so now I'm not sure what to do. Can anyone help me please??

Hey, you gettin a lot of pocket money kid, you ballin!

It's hard to see where you're going wrong, but using two audio interfaces may be confusing things for you. Get the MPC Renaissance working with your computer first, then connect the turntable directly to the Ren phono inputs. The manual shows how to sample with the Ren.
