Need some vinyl with some good drums.

What are some good records for sampling drums. I spend way to much time searching for drums and only come up with some lame sounds.
Need some help please.

I guess it depends on what kind of drums you want. If your looking for loops then there's the obvious James Brown or other funk or jazz groups. If your looking to get individual hits, I like old rock records. They usually have pretty powerful drums and are usually well recorded.

Diggin is the fun part though for me, so I just look in all different kinds of music.

Good hits can be found on tons of stuff... they're everywhere. But if you really want an easy starting point, start choppin' up stuff from the UBB series (Substitution, Impeach, God Made Me Funky, Papa Was Too, Pussy Footer etc.). You could also grab a couple volumes of Drum Crazy or a few of the Paul Nice Comps. If you don't have the $$$ for the OG pressings or simply don't know where to begin looking it's a cost-effective approach.

- There you can find the tune with the cool drums that make you get moose bumps - find the source, enter the track / lp in amazon or gemm or ebay and cop the drums you were after. Simple.

now, anyone wanna tell me how prince paul got the tinny snares used on "no where to run" on gravediggas first LP - coz those fakkers are definitely not from synthetic substitution. they is BAADD.

I'm totally hooked on German rock records lately They are deadcheap, in fact people will often give you money just to take them away. Maybe i'm a little twisted, but i think it's alot more fun to sample from really bad records. The satifaction of turning something horrible into a nice tune is much more rewarding than messing with a funk-record that already sounded great anyway.

the phat drum loop page is cool , i like digging but thats so easy and u can get raw ass drums if u know whay u doing

try buying scratch records there are alot of bits with just nice drum hits.look for death stlye records black market snuff breaks its all black with white graff lettering on the front theres a whole section of tight drum sounds .turntable terrorist coryographer of cutz dj whyroc

MAster Drummer series,
of these 3 I lOVE the master drummer series, the Bernard Purdie (one of the best funk drummers EVER) set is phat.

all these records have are drum breaks and nothing else, plus you can get some classic breaks w/ only drums like "elect the president" and "funky president" they run about 12 bux each, 1 should give you enough breaks to mess with for a while.

old idris muhammed records are funky...and personally, i dont give an eff where my drums come from--as long as they have the sound i'm looking for without being easily recognizable. from old to new, soul to top40, anythang.
