Post your views and questions about the Akai MPC2500

My MPC 2500 has a horizontal line of dead pixels on the LCD. This thing has had very little use in compared to most. At first I could jiggle the screen around and they'd disappear but now they seem stuck.

Is there a fix for this? or do I need a new LCD?

sounds like you need a new lcd... this is quite rare for the 2500 though... i can't say i've ever heard of this happening on the 2500 or 1000... this is more common on the 2000 and 2000xl.

do not wonder bro. nukai builds faulty hardware. just get a new screen as crossings already mentioned and call it a day!

or i dunno... the fact that you used to be able to "jiggle the screen to make the line go away" implies a loose connection... maybe you should open it up and check and see that nothing's loose... you'll have to open it up anyway if you buy a new lcd... may as well check first.

really? The 2000 display is very rare since it is very special (even the dots are not very common 248x60) but the 2500 has a 240x64 dots display so I can imagine that a non AKAI display probably could work too but IDK for sure :)

the screen isn't rare... those are real easy to find and not too pricey either... what i meant was that it's rare for the 2500 lcd to have lines of dead pixels.

ok, I misunderstood it :) but yes I also never heard about the lines on any of the "newer" MPCs only 2000(xl).
60 and 3000 could have a bad inverter/backlight but also no dead lines AFAIK.

I had that happen on my 2500. It never got worse over a 7 month period but it just drove me crazy as I have an XL with 16 lines in the LCD. I put a black one in eventually.

My first 2500 screen went in this way too, except the line was permanently on in the end. It was still usable but it was a bit annoying and affected my enthusiasm for using my 2500 for a while. But my MP was still under warranty then, so i got it replaced. The second replacement screen fukked up after about a year in a more spectacular fashion. :(

Anyway, as fixes go, this one is one of the cheeper ones and fairly straightforward to do. There's some youtube vids on how to do it too. It's also an opportunity to get a different coloured screen or one of them XL jobs. cool
