PLEASE HELP! MPC 2500 track mute goes on and off without me

i have a sequence with multiple tracks. Once i go into the track mute mode the tracks mute on and off on their own without me pressing any pads. All of the pads are on mono. a track will play for a few bars and then another will come on as if i had programmed it to play like that. this happens on different occasions and i havent been doing anything different from the times where everything works properly so i dont know what the problem is. PLEASE HELP!

you must have pressed MUTE on certain tracks while the sequence was in record mode... to deactivate that, turn off EVENTS in the TRACK MUTE screen.
