Does anyone know if it's possible to link multiple 2000xl the way that you can link 3000s?

yeah its called midi. u can do that with almost all pro audio gear, seqs, samplers, synths, soundmods, multitracks, pcs, pretty much anything with a midi in and out. U would want to have one as a host, say the 3k and have everything slaved off it.

if u keep daisy chanin it then i dont see a limit. I dont know why u would want more then 2 though. there would be no point.

Worst than that, no real advantage to linking 2.

dr. dre daisy chains upto 5 3000's.
just cuz dre does it doesn't mean you have to do it
jokin but for real there is no real point he does it cuz he is lazy an doesn't want to look threw samples

aye i have a question thats probably the dumbest maybe easiest thing you'd have to answer.....BUT
what the hell is the THRU for????????? I never seem to need it. I tried pluggin my proteus in the thru in my mbd1 and i was only able to control my proteus and it was like my other module wasnt even there. so then i was confused..........

Check that link, it has pictures that show how the THRU is supposed to be used. It is for passing data THRU gear and on to another machine. If you have more than 2 machines you would use the THRU feature.

If you are linking multiple MPC's up it has nothing to do with the number of midi channels available........also using thru passes the MIDI info thru the device as opposed to out which will not pass thru a device, but instead will accept the midi messages from the device that's plugged into the MIDI IN...

Ok, I will say that is a pretty idiotic statement. MPC's are like girlfirend's. They can be pretty good individually, but you get two or more together and that is a party.
My partner and I had done live gigs for years with 2 MPC's synced together.
Other legitimate reasons for multiple XL's:
Need more than 64 midi tracks.
Need more than 16 pads at once.
Need more than 4 simultaneous programs.
Need more than 32 note polyphony.
Need more than 32 Meg of memory.
Need more than 32 midi channels.
MPC's can be better than girfriends sometimes. My MPC does not get jealous when I play with other MPC's. The MPC does not care who I played the day before. I can turn on the MPC last, and it does not care. The MPC does not care if it shares a midi cable with othe gear.
