Submit bug reports and feature requests for the JJOS-XL and 2XL

i like this FR. it is cumbersome to navigate to the proper CC.

i saw use for it ages ago, so i wrote a BUTTON MODE macro that enters grid edit, changes track type to midi, and enters a frequently used CC of my choosing. you can see video of it here:

DAMN that screen looks tiny now. crazy how fast you get used to change.

i think an easier way would be great. could we draft something up here before sending anything off to jj? Sooty's last suggestion of a hotkey to jump to the LAST received CC is a good one, i'm fine with that being the request.

let's keep it impersonal, folks

how about this:

first, lets make it easier to get to the CONTROL sceen.
I notice that in the GRID EDIT (MIDI track type) screen, the F1 key is unused.

REQUEST: make F1 key in GRID EDIT (MIDI track type) be 'CONTROL' .
this will take us to the MIDI CC control view without having to press SHIFT.

once in the CONTROL view:

1. press SHIFT + F4 "LISTEN"
(i choose F4 because it is easier to reach that key combo with one hand)

2. the MPC displays a message "WAITING FOR INCOMING MIDI CC..."

3. move a control on your synth / midi controller / etc...

5. upon receiving an incoming midi cc, the MPC jumps to the received cc value in the display & the "WAITING FOR..." message dissapears.

i like it. i presume your jjenglish is good enough to reasonably suggest that? i will add my voice with my next bug report as well.

however, realistically, it will probably only be implemented in the 128xl version. i know and would agree that it'd be nice in xl, but likewise some xl functions would be nice in os1....

This is why a sub forum is needed for XLCD.The feature request for OS2XL are now
just feature request for a unnecessary mod to buy a O.S. to experience my request.
Things have changed and as such are different from the days of try before you buy. I
feel a XLCD forum may bring clarity.

ha. 'jjenglish'
yeah, i'll simplify the wording a bit & send it to him.

it would be nice if this request could end up in 2xl but i'm not too worried if it doesn't. i know most if not all of the 128xl stuff will end up in a small screen os in the future. i might still save some pennies and pick up the large screen as well if the os continues to improve. some major LFO additons & the return / expansion of aftertouch might put it over the top for me.

THat is a good idea! In effect you are putting the MIDI monitor in the MIDI grid edit screen and then, the MPC seeing that control, will set screen to that MIDI control in the MIDI control grid window.

All it is gonna take is one dodgy encoder, sending ccs all the time for instance, to make the screen go crazy I suspect. That and of course encoders sending two CCs  . So if it can be done so that it does not crash when getting lots of CCs and screen is changing at a million miles an hour, as it plays, then that is very good. Yeah it has to be a function and not set that way, as you would not want screen switching on you if you are working on one particular CC. So in that case I think it should toggle as active not active, as it a broken encoder, or two CC at once might preclude a CC after. If that makes sense? I mean you want to read 2nd CC sometimes not first. Maybe it goes to monitor, and then shows you MIDI stream then WHEN you turn it off it goes to last CC, this way you can get around 1st CC you might not want.
