Looks sweet and I bet the software is nice...

and the plot thickens ... the build of the controller reminds me of maschine. i hear alot of people talking about ableton. i played around with the light version of live that came with my delta 1010lt years ago. but i haven't really followed it. but for the tons of folks who have, it looks like they have yet another option to choose from.

thanks to the success of maschine, it looks like these dedicated controllers are the next big thing. makes me wonder whether roland has anything in the works?

and, it was built by AKAI, so the pads should be nice...

no wave-form editor, as far as I can see, BUT anything that I can load my MPC programs into and tweek, and has sound to MIDI conversion, has got me very, very piqued...

It made sense for Ableton to use Akai because they already had a relationship. However they make it clear that it's a an Ableton designed product. In fact, Akai only gets a small nod on the back of the unit. One glance and you tell immediately that the Push isn't a product of Akai's designers.

Ableton has never tied to pander to the MPC faithful. They dongs they're own way and are pretty unapologetic about. The 4x4 pad on the drum racks arrangemt is as far as they go.

while at first thought that makes sense.. that is mainly because the akai pads I use are on mpcs.... but then I think of the mpd series.... and my finger joints cringe. It's like they drew squares on a piece of paper and placed that paper onto a plank of wood.

However, these don't appear terrible in the vids floating around....

I am glad they didn't put knobs below the display like on the mashine, and I am glad they didn't cram a 4x4 grid of knobs like on the ren.... even if that means no faders.

If it is anything like the build of the APC 40 it should be good. But should this be in the comparison thread?? The true sequencer is the Ableton vs Ren which in no doubt it would go to Ableton. But as far as playing the pads for the drum pattern Ren may have the timing and the feel. As the sampler engine and control are build in mpcs. In my opinion getting simpler, drum racks, sampler, or other thing in down just wasn't for me. Still I'm looking forward to Ableton 9 and push as an APC 40 replacement.

the feel.. I can picture that... timing, well I dont think so. Timing will likely be the same.

I'm still working with my unit second day but so far so good! I'm out to learn it be back in a few days. I only post here cuz I talked about ableton 9 in the daws forum.

I wonder if daw sequencers/clocks are tied to the system clock at all... somehow I suspect they might be...

Very interesting machine. Im disappointed that there isnt a waveform editor.
Ive always thought that if they made something like the ren for ableton, that it would be a game changer. I dont think the push is quite there yet!

I think the bottom row of 4X4 pads can play sampled sounds, while the top row of 4X4 can program the step sequencer, <<<AT THE SAME TIME, which is cool.
The "instrument" can be switched to a keyboard mode, tell it what KEY you want to play in, AND NO WRONG NOTES!
Just imagine what kind of lovely string section sounds youll be able to make, while jamming with this thing...

This is the Ultimate Midi Production Software of the future. It reminds me of the way The ATARI ST was used as a sequencer. This thing is 1000x more beastly though.

This is the kind of innovation in Software/Hardware that @Deck Lazer was talking about he wanted to see
