Converting MPC3000/60 snd to wav on comp?

Is there a way to put my zip disk from the 3K into a PC and convert my files to wav for archiving.

Yes.
First, be very careful.
The MPC writes and reads partitions very differently than the PC/Mac.
So, don't use your master MPC Zip disk. Use another disk and save things just to the first partition. The Mac/PC will not see any other partition nd will end up damaging your Master disks.

Once you copy the files to the computer, use MPC Editor or MPCPGMMaker to do the SND file conversions.

There are freebie programs too. But, those two previously mentioned are very tight and worth the cash.

I understand how to swap zips, but from my understanding the MPC Editor cannot convert snds to wavs. Only wavs to snd.

I use MPCPGMMaker.
It's a Mac program.
But it was designed from MPC Editor.
I am sure that MPC Editor will do what you need.

I am able to convert batches of files from SND to WAV and vice versa.

What do you save to? A zip or floopy?

Yes. I am primarily using OSX. Although I have used the program in OS9.
I save to Zip mostly, but I have also saved to floppies too.

save from the comp?

You don't a floppy drive in your MPC or your PC?
Anyway, for simple converting from the computer to your MPC, you can even use a PC formatted Floppy or Zip disk. Again, that's just for converting. In the long run, you don't wanna use that disk as a Master disk for saving your important MPC sequences, sounds and other stuff to.

No, I don't have a floppy in my mac, I am planning to buy one. I do have one on the MPC. So you don't have to format the floppy disk on the MPC before you take the disk to the Mac?

No. If it has been formatted by the MPC, it will be fine.
It will show up as a PC drive usually.
Just remember use a backup floppy and not one that has vital info on it.
Make sure that you are using the latest version of MPCPGMMaker.

By the way, those USB floppy drives are cheap.

homershines, what up thanks for the info, so i got the mpc pgm maker for osx and a usb zip drive, but when i format on osx my 3K flips out and vice versa, any knowledge on the formatting procedure. nothing works, anyone using osx and a 3k?

Regardless, there is other software that converts snd-wav and it's free (and it was written by me).,

Yeah. I'm using OSX 10.35 and a MPC3000. I usually format my Master Zips in the MPC. I also use PC pre-formatted Zips as my transfer disks that move back and forth between the computer and the MPC. After I use the transfer disks a few times, I always erase them. I can't remember if I reformat them as DOS disks in OSX or not. But I do erase them.

***And I never put may Master Disks into the computer. Never!
