I used to use it on an Asr 10 before the mpc ever had it. It's just that I don't see why if a sample has Ndc sections defined, why one couldn't select from them in an audio track.
It's not the same memory if you are using the same part of a sample in multiple chops. I bought of this because I ran out of same memory when his audio tracks and being able to use the Ndc chops in audio tracks would have solved the issue and opened up more possibilities.

If added to audio tracks in the form of a field like in trim Ndc chop on and a hop number field, I can take a 64 bar audio file and Ndc it to multi bar chunks all still in he same audio file, and scroll through them. No need to keep separate files or rename them and keep track. The functionality is already there, it just needs to be accessible through audio tracks and it will open up more useful ways of using the mpc.
:hmmm: What? I dont get it. What am I missing here?
I am working with 32 bar takes, I put them in NDC, and get 32 bars chopped that I sequence, that makes backing/audio track. So I guess you guys do not use song mode to make long samples of takes and put em in NDC to sequence out?? Seems like same thing. kinda? Or yousaying you do not want to sequence out the chops ? is that it?

Nym wrote:if i saw dirtybird's last facebook video correctly, he was rocking some aftertouch like a pro in 128xl. i could be wrong, and upon checking the comparison chart it looks like i was wrong.

i'll see what i can do. i agree that it is important. best case scenario, it's being improved so that it can send any internal control AND outgoing midi cc or something. who knows.

DB, what were you doing in that video? controlling external synths with your pads and channel pressure?

thanks for responding. wasn't sure I posted in the right thread. was going to start one in the request subforum.

@Nym: In the video... I sampled myself playing 8 bars of a synth melody (while simultaneously modulating the synth's filters), chopped it up into 32 pieces, and then just played it out on the pads. It kinda of sounds and looks like I was rocking aftertouch, but that wasn't the case.

hopefully JJ is working on an aftertouch addition. it'd mean a lot to a bird.

Hey bliprock.

Yeah I get how you work, I use NDC that way too.

For simple explanation, say a 32 bar sample to fit over an 8 bar sequence. Set up the NDCs into the 4 or more 8 bar chunks.
In your sequence, plop it in an audio track. Copy that into a bunch of sequences for song mode. A. Rah step oh can just select the chop for the variation you want, with the waveform display changing in he window. Like when you change a sample in an audio track, but with the chops. I think that would be a slick way of working and would allow me to work with chops a lot faster and open up some fun creative ways to work within a sequence as well. It would be great if each chop could also be set independently to loop or not as well. That migh be a bit redundant, but if it can be done without converting to separate samples then you can move the chop markers at any time.

I see what ya doing. I can dig that, though I do not use audio tracks much, I can see how it allows that NDC choice to be changed as playing. How ever you can do that in sequencer step edit view with hold note on and realtime data set to CHOP in drum mode. you have it on main screen instead. With wave form to. So I wont use it for that reason, that and I do not need to see wave data all the time. But can see you changing NDC chop number from main screen would help.
