I guess what I'm really looking for is a very quick way to get the cursor from one corner of the MAIN screen to the other, i.e. from qlink selection (Bottom Left) to Loop/Bar Control (Top Right) so i can switch the loop before it repeats. I find myself clicking like the Dickens to get to the top right in a hurry, not to mention putting a lot of pressure on buttons in the process.

Actually, if i can switch the bars/loop playing AND keep the cursor in qlink or wherever, that would be useful.

Thinking back to my earlier post:

"What do you all think about a feature request for holding Q1 (AFTER) + Press PAD to select the bar to loop?"

"I don't know what's possible but there should be a way to integrate the pads into bar selection."

Another option (maybe) for this could be, instead of holding Q1 (AFTER), how about "holding <BAR (left) + Pad" to select starting bar, and "holding BAR> (right) + Pad" to select ending bar.

This wouldn't be as extensive as Sooty's or others suggestions, or cover non-sequential bar arrangement, but it's another angle.

What I'm envisioning could also be like Pad Locate, but fixed to bars (or not?), and without the need to be in an AUDIO track, or the redundancy of pads dedicated to functions that already have dedicated buttons (PLAY, STOP, etc.).

"Bar Locate" would be the dream, but with a Cursor "Jump" I feel the need is already there.

my suggestion would allow you to do that. the cursor never needs to move at all.

that wouldn't work because pressing BAR already has a function. you can't 'hold' the BAR button because it performs its function immediately on the downward press, and you want it to stay that way in order to keep accurate timing & quick response when you press the BAR buttons.

if you just want to set the start/end bar, that could work with my suggestion. while holding down the F1 (LOOP) key and the pop-up window is displayed, you could just hit the first pad to set the starting bar, then the right arrow key, then the next pad you hit will be the ending bar. hitting the right arrow key would be like telling then MPC 'play all the bars in between the first bar & the last bar i select'.

I was imagining holding BAR + PAD to be like holding Q2 + PAD, where after release the light still isn't lit/activated, so as long as you press a pad afterward, releasing a hold of a BAR key does not result in a move in the bar field. I don't really use the BAR keys too much, when I do I find a quick press & release would suffice instead of really needing that instant switch.

At any rate, I can get down with your idea as long as it accomplishes what I was looking for, which is an action as quick as "Hold X key + Pad" to select the starting bar, and save the day before the one comes around again.

"Look Ma, No Cursor" On-the-Fly Bar Selection, in a nutshell.
