woop!

1000 screen has been badass. the transition to os128XL is pretty transparent now that the new TRIM mode SLICE has been implemented. i spent a good bit yesterday doing more testing on SLICE and PAD CYCLE functions. most importantly, my projects from os2xl are importing very smoothly, which means i don't have to spend time adjusting them. note, however, that round robin/cycled pads are now being assigned from the main screen, not GPE, so that may present some challenges for folks using those functions in os2xl.

man the new destructive slice is even better than the one on os2xl, which i loved
there is a new feature which was imported from non-destructive chop
where you can select a region by hitting its corresponding pad.
makes navigating slices waaay faster, while preserving all the os2xl fast-slicing goodness

XLCD has very very little catchup to do to be feature-equal os2xl and already surpasses it in most key areas. honestly i'm relieved by this, as i was afraid at first...but i'm very happy to be proved wrong.

OOOOOH SHIT 8) that is awesome! and a huge improvment from 2xl, how do you select the other slices? do you hold down a button and push the pad or just push the pad?

i guess my question is, are the pad parameters (from jjos2xl) of: reverse, show a milisecond before and after, oneshot, hold down ect. still there? or did they remove these pad functions in destructive chop mode to make it so when you tap a pad it just goes to that slice?

also, did they add the loop selection in the main screen yet?

this thing is evolving quite nicely :-D

potential facepalm. i just went to look and finally hit WINDOW over the LOOP page...and found a page where you can set the first bar and last bar of your loop. i am not sure how long it's been there, but it's there. AFAIK, you can change it on the fly, too. i'm not sure why the "BARS loop" section of the comparison chart shows no checkmark...

how do you select the other slices? do you hold down a button and push the pad or just push the pad?

you just push the pad. i don't remember if the other pad functions (play til, play from, play reverse) weren't in os2xl destructive chop. those other pad functions are there when you are in a different TRIM function (discard, extract etc)

Murai wrote:In OS2XL, if LOOP is turned on during a play, the loop of the one bar played now will be carried out.
For example, when the present marker is in a bar 2, if LOOP is turned on, the LOOP field will be automatically set to 2-2.
In 128XL, the LOOP field will be set to 1-END whenever LOOP is turned on regardless of the position of a marker. (When the start/end of the loop are not set)
Thus, although it has BARS LOOP in fact, specifications differ.
Since I do not want to get a claim, the comparison chart has been set to X.
Murai.

i see. so i think the functionality we wanted is there, they were just doing a little CYA in the comparison chart.

so if im reading this right, the bars loop is there, and you can change them freely just like in os2xl, its just not in the main screen? you have to push window to get there?

Yes I think so...but I rather buy it in the color I want than painting, cos I am not so good in those tasks and I could ruin the lcd itself

yeah i can see that, although i found that its not that hard to get a good even coat of spraypaint on my mpc case, you just have to tape it off correctly for the parts you dont want painted.

you should email mike at mpcstuff and ask him, i seriously doubt it will happen though, but they might be willing to paint it for you for a little extra money. ill pm you his email.
