Has anyone put an internal zip in their 60I? I know Elmacaco, you say its better to leave the floppy in. Im just curious anyway. Someone gave me a internal scsi zip 100 and I was reading the mpc3000.com site. Someone told me that is possible to destroy the 60 by doing this. =-) I dont really believe this. But is the marion scsi card the same as the one in the 3000? If so, wouldnt the same adapters used by Mpc3000 work with the 60I? Now I have not opened one up yet, but is the 60I that much different inside? Like how it is arranged? I thought I read in one of the topics that Elmacaco, you said that the 60I is very roomy. If so wouldnt this be easy to do? My 60I should be here in 2 days. =-)

This can be said about MANY different posts/threads up in here.
I wish it wasn't like that but it's the way of the universe homie.
Like a movie, "It's in the script".. It's gonna happen.

**** forat. thouse cats rip dudes off. If u have any technical skills u can do it ur self. But as elmac said i would prob not do it. It seems risky and if there is reports of u blowin ur shit then why risk it?

Those forat cats actually helped bring about the MPC, it may be cheaper to do it yourself, on your own mpc if you can, but as soon as other mofo's start lining up and what their mpc done, it's gotta be worth your while, employees, stocking all the paint, parts etc. You pay for their knowledge, and if they **** something up, it's on them to fix it. There is no one who knows the mpc better than forat I imagine, and it is a boon to have him perform that service. It's thanks to the genius and popularity of the moc that we have such a service available, with many other discontinued pieces you don't have access to a developer of it to customize it or fix it. They are not a scam, they are just the best, trust me, if you had mad cats coming in for customizations, you would charge like that too.

This is true. It's simple supply and demand. It's like this I feel like Forat's prices are high because I have the know how in most cases to do a lot of the things they offer myself. The other side to this is that if there is a service that I don't feel comfortable performing myself I would def. trust Bruce Forat to do it for me and I would just have to pay the fee. It's like this I like motorcycles and would love to be able to just cop all of the parts I need to build my own for like $2500, but instead I had to go cop one built by Honda for $6000 because they know what they are doing and if I were to mess something up doing it myself I'd be up ish creek.

This is all great guys. But all Im asking about is an internal zip scsi in a mpc 60I. Yes I realize Forat can do it. S**t, Forat could probably put wheels on it and a remote and I could drive it around my house and make beats. Im just saying if a scsi zip can go in a 3000 with no problems, why couldnt it work in a 60? Thats what this topic is. And Im asking in a nice way, not a cocky way. =-)

Hint Hint

If Forat can do it then oviously it can be done is what we are trying to say. I'm sure you'll just need to get a SCSI adapter that has both external and internal connectivity. JUST BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL! From my experiences with scsi any equipment with an external scsi interface should be able to be adapted to house an internal SCSI device. Don't quote me though ;)

From many many years of SCSI experience on computers of all kind I can't possibly think of any reasons why it wouldn't work if it's done properly.

All this talk about 'potential damage' seems as strange as the talk about using HD disks that presumably would 'destroy' the internal disk drive in the 60.. yeah right. As if somebody could determine the exact cause of any hard or disk drive failure..

But as I said, I simply see no reason why it wouldn't work. And I guess the main reason why nobody's seems to have done it before is because you get like no real benefits out of it. A lot of work for nothing, and there won't be SCSI zip drives around forever. Sooner or later there might be a problem locating fresh ones. In that case, it's quite handy having an internal disk drive as well.

Try something like a SCSI flash rom card reader/writer instead if you're really that hooked onto the internal install concept. Saw one installed in a S2000, quite clever imho. That one was installed in the floppy drive's place, it had the exact same size.

Thanks pUs. I here what your saying about keeping a floppy internal. And Elmacaco. I was just thinking about why it would not work. My 60 should arrive today! Ill probably just leave it alone. Although I do use flash cards with allot of ish. And my 1000. How much do scsi ones go for? Ill get on ebay.

It can and has worked, but IMO it is a bit short sighted since zip drived do fail more than floppy drived in my experience with the 60.

THe only issue I'd need to investigate before attempting this is if you can just disconnect the floppy or if something needs to be changed so the 60 doesn't look for it.
