i read on gearslutz someone using 32gb card but do you actually use all 32gb?
just want to make sure prior to buying thx

780mb.

A 1GB card is ideal, unless you plan on wasting space.

Vailixi wont give you more space.

IMO 780mb is enough on 1 card and being able to store more than that on 1 card can get real ugly. Things can go wrong and cards can get corrupt. A bad SCSI cable can easily corrupt files in a partition. Thank god for Partitions.

Plus file management would get real ugly with partitions over 30mb and I don't think the MPC 60' or 3K would be able to handle larger ones.

Grab a few 1gb CF's, it's much better that way. Luckily my CF reader hot swaps and I can back up my favorite beats onto a backup card easily. If you don't have one, I suggest you put your energy into getting one that can instead.

1 Gb card(780 Mb) with 32Mb partions is enough, I don´t get the point with endless of Ram and storage.. My SP1200 is just fine :)

I just installed 32MB into my MPC3000 and bought 3 CF cards.
The partitioning in Vailixi is confusing me a little.

I've normally partitioned my CF cards into 24MB partitions, totalling 624MB, to avoid any issues with the OS not liking a disk over 780MB.

But now I have 32MB installed I was thinking about partitioning into 32MB partitions, but the only way to do that is to do 26 x 32MB partitions which = 832MB.

I just did this and looked at the resulting partition sizes, expecting to see everything add up to 780MB (OS pruning), but no, I have 26 partitions of 32636K, which apparently the mpc3000 doesn't support.

What is happening? Will my files eventually get corrupted by using this partition map?

Anyone with any long-term experience using 32MB Hybrid partitions in Vailixi?

Cheers

The Vailixi OS has been changed to allow 32MB partitions.

This is non-standard for an MPC3000, so will not work with the earlier MPC3000 OS versions.

It will not corrupt your files, unless, possibly, you try to use them in a non-Vailixi MPC3000.

Cheers.

Clint PM'd me with:

"The MPC3000 in STANDARD FORMAT mode will make usable about 780 MEGABYTE. The MPC3000 in Vailixi Hybrid Partition mode will make usable about 832 MEGABYTE.” – Quote from Rohan.
