Which MPC (or Tempest?)

Have you thought about mpc2500? In any case, if you go either 1k or 2500, be sure to do some research on the JJOS. It adds a lot of new features and improvements to sequencing!

Hey, I haven't considered the 2500. From what I understand, the 1000 and 2500 are very similar, and the JJOS puts similar features into both.

Is there anything else about the 2500 I should be aware of?

yeah you're correct. JJOS makes them (apart couple of features) identical on OS level. Differences are on the hardware: tilt screen, IO, pads, 2 extra q-link knobs, number pad, layout, size.

If none of those matter then go for the 1k
