Hey guys,

I was thinking of adding a rack synth to my set-up such as a Motif, Fantom, or Triton.
I make mainly sample based music with a 90's/underground feel to it. and I use a MPC 2500 (fl studio sometimes too ;) ), Im mainly looking for bass sounds to add basslines to my samples and also for cool fx and sounds to layer over the top, Ive tried all of these but a long time ago, i remember the triton having a more electric kinda sound, so maybe the Motif or Fantom would be a better bet? Let me know what you guys think, Im waiting for some cash to clear in the bank so I wont be buying anything untill atleast monday, I just wanna hear what you guys have used/liked when adding some stuff to your samples.

Hey there, I am using a Fantom XR. I can recommend it, though be aware it is a ROMPLER, not a synth! It also got released with a 'Sample Tools Expansion" kit in second release, and this one is the one to get, as it is has the sampler added. It is a million times better with sampler added to resample sounds you made for more patches. You will have to hunt for a CF card to PC card convertor. I had only one shop in my city selling them, for $20. They will be needed as you can only save 64 user performances and you will want more. Lots of menu diving, but software runs ok. I even use software whilst MPC plays midi to it. Not all the time usually its just midi and use things like Qlink sliders to send midi CCs. That is with JJOSXL. You have to get that as well.
SO it will do what you say, yes, but a bit of work is needed to make it sound good, like any work station.
Its got 3 FX in any arrangement, and extra mastering FX on top of that, thats good FX to imo.

All my stuff is Xr and mpc1000 with some other mono synths and FX, no computer used so this will give you idea of its sound.
ok so second one is trancey stuff, sorry if you dont like that stuff, but around 7 minutes if you can listen that long it goes to piano and guitar and that is just XR, so its very versatile if you get to grips with it.

yeah I think that is a good deal. I got mine for about the same if I remember correctly.
It will take a while to get to grips with it but like I said it is good for what you are wanting it for. And yeah need to get that CF card convertor as well. If you have any questions just PM me
