the sp can make sequences and play other instruments hooked up via midi like the mpc
looking at right in the picture you can see midi in, midi out, and midi thru sockets
But you don't say the only thing one will be able to do, is to TRIG your intruments with a short gate.
SP does not send notes informations...except ON/OFF and midi notes numbers to which each pad is assigned to.
You can't record a chord inside a track and play it back in another midi instrument.
Unlike an MPC.
If you want a classic boombox and be stuck with it to make beats > go SP
If you want a classic midi sequencer and a classic boombox > go 60
If you want both, classic boomboxes sound + classic midi sequencer on the cheap: go 60 and Emax
It will not be SP's feeling and not sound exactly like an SP but it definitely is an awesome sounding combo, with more possibilities.
Emax can sound cleaner or dirtier than SP, and you have an analog synthesizer too. Just feed it some samples with emxp if you are on pc and got internal floppy disk.
That's what i did, i sold my SP and got 3000 and Emax I instead.
