Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

Hi,

I currently have an MPC2000 (not the XL version). It's getting quite old, some buttons are a little bit sticky etc., and even though I love it, it's a bit limited. I would really love to replace it with an MPC4000. I found a shop in England that sells them for 2.200 euro (over here in Belgium they still cost 3.714 euro). Still a lot of cash, but reasonable. I have a few questions :

- is it worth replacing an mpc2000 with an mpc4000?
- will my mpc2000 songs&programs load perfectly? what about filter settings etc? I assume I can load the mpc2000 disks on the computer and send them to the mpc4000 using ak.sys?
- does anyone know if the model they sell in the uk is the same as the one they sell in belgium, ie won't I have any voltage problems or something?

Thanks for your time.

1.) That's not really a question I can answer, but just to tell you that I went from a 2000XL to the 4000 and I am happy with my purchase.

2.) Songs and Programs load up fine, however, the filter on the MPC4000 is different and as a result, you will probably have to change some of the filter's cutoff and resonance parameters to make it sound how it did on the MPC2000.

3.) No, the only problem you may face is with the main adapter, but I am sure you can resolve this easily enough.
