I'm looking to upgrade the RAM on my new MPC but 128mb doesnt seem like enough somehow! Can someone enlighten me as to wether or not the MPC 500 will take any larger than 128mb?

but when buying from a 3rd party he needs 256 mb right? i just ordered a 256mb card and hopfully it will work just like the EXM128

I appreciate the advice, thank you. I'm planning on using the mpc to trigger sounds from my album in a live environment. No need for songs etc on the mic, just to use like an instrument really. I have 3 program on the CF so far but I am getting an insufficient memory prompt when i try to load them. I has 16mg just now so an upgrade is definitely in order. The reason I am asking about more that 128mg is so that I have more than I'll ever need. just a safety net really!

if you're gonna trigger really long samples and not use the sequencer, then one of the roland/boss SP samplers will probably be a better investment for you... something like the sp-404... they can play sounds directly from the compactflash card [or whichever storage that specific model uses] and therefore your sample time is only limited to the size of your media card. in other words, something like 4GB of sampling time vs the 128mb from the MPC.

MPC's weren't really designed with triggering long samples in mind... they're more for sequencing multiple chops of samples into a beat.
