How to use FL Studio on Macbook Pro.

What up yall! I have a 2012 Macbook Pro 13". I heard that this program is not compatible with mac. I was told to download Darwine, then FL Studio and run it. Will it work?

Yes! all Darwin is, is an emulator. It does work I don't know how well the program runs but the 2012 mac are pretty powerful Im sure you can run it without a problem.

I ran the OS X beta the Image Line made recently. It worked but not well enough for my tastes.

It was only able to get an RME audio interface that generally runs at 2-4ms of latency to about 48ms I think, maybe worse. Playing with MIDI controllers was basically impossible.

Also it was hit and miss with plugins. You had to copy over Windows .exe's and keep your fingers crossed that the emulated environment would install and run it stably.

The Image Line beta was running on a adapted Codeweavers Crossover wrapper that ran without the main app.

So how do I go about doin this? Im retarded when it comes to this computer stuff even tho this might be easy. So I download Darwine, Open up the emulator, locate FL 10 and Viola??

Thebluformula said he thought it would work well based on the good specs of the macbook, but that's not really the problem.

I don't use them really but Darwine would run a virtual machine. Virtual machines are emulated and don't run as well the real thing. (In this case the real OS running on a hard drive).

What I wonder about is Image Line made a special FL installer to run in the Crossover software they used, and even the company itself couldn't make it run very well.

What you would be trying is to install would I assume be the regular FL installer. My point is mainly I doubt that installing the regular FL into Darwine will work better than the Crossover one I used. It probably will install but not run very well.

Unless they completely re-write the FL application (which seems unlikely) you'l probably never see an official OS X release that runs properly. (FL is written in a programming environment that doesn't translate to OS X well, but after a decade+ they're stuck with it).

Thoroughly. Win 7 runs fantastic on current Macs.

I hope they don't abandon Intel and go proprietary again as has been rumored. It's been a better DAW world overall with CPU's being generally standardized save for the stray AMD here and there.

well I dont see them going back to motorola for desktops and maybe even the laptops... intel probably would be cheaper.... since mass production.

AMD makes good CPUs too... but I wonder if they started using them, does that mean they will no longer use intel for some models..... or will they start using several companies. I wonder if motorola even makes cpus anymore.
