Does the jjos need to be loaded up every time I turn the mpc on?

As far as saving goes I have seen that people are having save issues. The solution is supposedly to reformat the hdd. Has this been addressed?

If I do have to format the drive will I lose all of my files that are on the drive?

If I decide I don't like the os and go back to akai os will I have to reformat again to go back?

Also with the free version of jjos can I make my own screen splash?

Thanks.

No just install it once. You'll probably need to adjust the contrast on your LCD after though (Stop+Data Wheel).

I never had saving issues with JJ OS Free. If you installed OS1, OS2, or OS2XL save is disabled on those until you buy a unlock code. JJ wants to give a full demo, and you can if you think about track out MIDI and Audio from the OS in demo mode, just no save. But the free one is fully save enabled.

Yes a format will erase the data on the HDD. Drag anything you want backed up to your computer over the USB connection.

No re-formats are necessary for any OS install/switch/revert. It''s just flashing the part of the memory where the OS stored, nothing to do with the HD.

Sometimes because of the JJ file being a .bin file the OS has to loaded from a CF card rather than the internal HDD when loaded from the stock Akai OS.

I'm not sure if free has the slash screen, OS2XL definitely still has it. Actually did you see the Pong game in JJ? I have to check if that's still in any of them. He dropped it in XL for more space for actual features.

Yeah that's exactly the method to copy the OS file to the CF card.

I just installed it thank you for all of your help and responses. Now time to play with it.

Is gpe included in the free version? If so how do I access it?

Also you had mentioned a work around to get extra memory and get rid of the factory preset sounds and programs how do I do that?

It almost seems like the mp runs smoother with the new oS but it's probably in my head. It definitely boots up faster since I changed the auto start folder.
