Yes but being someone's first customer and spending $700 across borders is quite a risky undertaking. No matter how desperate you are to get an MPC, some prudence and common sense should inform any distance buying decision. eBay and PayPal secure your money but they can't guarantee you'll receive the goods.

People in Europe don't need to buy MPCs from the US, there are enough over here to go round.

I think there are several reasons why i bought a 4k in the US. I was watching ebay from june/jul and the few 4000 on european EBAY / UK, GERM / where not mint or just were to expensive for me. The auctions are good place to where with a litle bit of luck you can get a good cared unit for a reasonable price, not to mention a DOLAR/EURO moving courses..

Of course i found a guy with a 4k here in Czech-Slovakia - but he wanted minimum 1400 EUR.. nonsense for me..

$700 for a mint MPC4000 from the other side of the planet should raise a few eyebrows, thats the part you're not getting here. Hope this all ends well for you and you learn from your mistakes, even if it does turn up...

I agree that buying without seeing it is a big risk. I would never do that. Even with paypal/Ebay. If you have to send it back it will cost you a lot of money and don't talk about the time and irritation.

What do you mean with "enough"?
I have seen one been offert in the country were I live in the past year. A lot of 1000's some 2500's and 2000XL. I understand there are less 4000's sold so there will be less to buy. Can you please give me the names in Europe, preferable the continent, were I can find them?

There are MPC4000's in all parts of Europe from time to time. I see them mostly in the UK but Germany and Holland are good bets. I think you need to revise your search strategy if you can't find any, and don't forget the 'Hardware for Sale' forum there's a UK 4000 there right now viewtopic.php?f=12&t=160100 with upgrades and flightcase. I won't tell you where else to look, but I can think of 5 or 6 good places that should be on your radar if you seriously want to buy an MPC.

Within Europe travel is cheap, for the price of shipping you might be able to have an interesting day out and come home with an MPC.

I understand. I lived in Prague for two years and whilst there I sold a Juno 106. i had over 100 enquiries about it becasue I wasn't selling it over the asking price. The guy who bought it was over the moon he managed to find one he could actually test before buying.

Whilst there I put some time and energy in to finding an MPC4k. this was the first time i had thought about buying one. I never came across one despite searching for about three months.

I hope it works out for you but I would suggest you go through the procedures to cancelling that one. Right now is a good time to get an MPC4k from UK/Europe because of the Akai Renaissance being released. You may have to pay a little more though. you may even be lucky and find one you can actually pick up your self even if it does mean driving to Germany/Austria.Czech Republic. Distance is immaterial imho when it comes to getting your hands on a fully working 4k

I have resolved the old jeresey case with paypal and they sended me back the money, meantime i found a blue 4k in UK and yesterday it has arrived!

Man!! ITs f<@/*ng HUGE but it is love on first sight - within 5 minutes i was ready to make a beat just with my knowladge of the 2XL and some intuition but as far i see this is a very complex and deepgoing instrument. I am so excited that i will not make a new thread and ask just this one question here so i can run to studio to play withe MPC

If i set the system clock to 24 bit resolution - can i normaly use 16 bit samples together with 24 bit in one program? - will they be both available/visible to load them from disk and start to work with them inside a sequence - ( the 16 bit would then be resampled internaly or this doesnt work so? )

Yes you can mix and match sample and bit rates without causing any problems... I don't know how the 4K deals with it, but it just works.

it was about two weeks ago.. a nice guy in Uk - orginal owner who buy it new and used it for music in studio so it is like new - it has the wordclock/spidf optional board and the ADAT optional board instaled - which if anyone is interested i can sell for a reasonable price as i will not use it and it could get me a litle cash back as i bought it for a litle bit more as i wanted..
