DIM MPC 1000 Display

I recently bought a new MPC !K but the screen on the main display is not as sharp and doesn't have as much contrast as my older red MPC. Has the LCD part been replaced or is this just a bad unit?

I don't know if they ever switched them but my black 1000 (bought used) had a very dim LCD with the same lack in sharpness you described. Maybe a backlight issue because again same as you others I've seen are way brighter and the text is crisper.

I just paid the $100 and put a white one in. Totally clear, brightness to spare. The black ones are really good too.

are you sure it's the backlight? have you tried adjusting the contrast?
