I Got A Question. I Use My MPC 1000 As The Sequencer For Reason And Live But If I Just Use It As A Controller, The Note Repeat Function Sounds A Little Off Beat And The Timing Is Different. I'm Getting Ready To Buy A Max49 Keyboard Mainly For The Note Repeat On A Midi Controller But My Question, Is The Timing Going To Be Correct With The Classic MPC Style On The Max49, MPD's, MPK's Or No?

The Reason Why I Want The Max49 Is I'm Just Looking To Find A Controller, With Good Keys, Pads And MPC Functions To Run With Reason And Eventually Downgrade My Set Up. I Currently Have A MPC1000, Maschine, Korg Micro X And A Novation Impulse and I'm Getting Tired Of All The Cords And Lack Of Space

I don't have a 1000 anymore so can't help you with that but why not just use Maschine for that since you already have it? Here are some options for using Reason with Maschine:

Using Reason as a sound module for Maschine via MIDI:

I can't speak for the Max49 but I never liked the Note Repeat on my MPD32. I'm not surprised it's timing always seems off. You have to set the Akai MIDI controllers to have MIDI clocked internally. Call me crazy but I don't trust the MIDI clock in a MIDI controller more than one my audio interface runs internally.

With my MPC's, no issues provided the MIDI MTC and/or MMC is setup up right with the software and note repeat records as it should. But yeah if it's just being used over the MIDI I/O with no proper MIDI sync you can't expect note repeat's timing to line up right.

In both cases emptysea posted in those videos you have to buy Energy XT's ReWire VST. It can only run one instance at a time and deal with one Reason module at a time. So while it's a cool thing you can do (I have the ReWire VST) it's probably more limited than what you are looking for.

Thanks for the inputs, I have used Reason with my maschine like in that you tube video. It works fine but I've had a love and hate relationship with maschine and I just don't feel the workflow as much as I do with my mpc 1000 or ableton live. The shitty thing is I bought my mpc new in 2010 and I had my down curser key on the 1000 die on me 2 times in the last 2 years now along with other buttons too. I've got the new tact switches from mouser.com but I feel like if I keep banging out on my mpc, I will keep killing buttons.. It's kind of a buzz kill for me when you want to keep an instrument for the long run and that happens in such a short period of time. The max49 seems perfect for me. For the most part it's an all in one solution and yes I am getting ready to buy it but I just want to do my research before paying 500 dollars for a midi controller.. If the note repeat doesn't synch properly then it's not worth it for me and I'm better off sticking with what I got for now. I will play around with my MPC as a controller and see if I can get the midi clock to sync properly and try out that vst first. Thanks for the info

Yeah, it really sucks. The tact switches always dying was a major pain and one of the many reasons why I ditched the MPC for Maschine.

Plenty of people using MPC's with Reason successfully. If you have everything setup properly there shouldn't be a problem with note repeat.

But not the forums apparently?

Yeah you have to set the midi clock sync to the MPC from the midi section in reasons preferences, did this with reason and my mpd18 really easy.
