I have a Spikenzielab Drum Kit - Kit AI http://www.spikenzielabs.com/SpikenzieLabs/dkkai.html.

This device takes six piezo pickups and converts them into six different midi notes.

I have connected a piezo pickup to the first set of pads, which is meant to produce midi note 52.

I have connected this directly to a midi synth, and am able to have a note play on it when it hit the pickup. So far so good.

When I connect it to the MPC1000, and setup a program to trigger a snare sample on midi note 52, nothing happens. I have set the MPC1000 to receive midi from 1A, and plugged in the midi cable to MIDI 1. Nothing happens.

I hope this makes sense!

Thanks.

Hi,

I had a look on a mac with a midi monitor and got the following when I hit the drum trigger:

NoteOff, Cha 1, NoNum 50, Vel 55

So, I have made a program on the MPC1000 with a sample mapped to the pad with note 50. When I hit my interface, there is no noise on the MPC...

Thanks

Yeah, good point. If it's a trigger, would it fire a noteOn when hit, then noteOff almost instantly.
I'm assuming that because you can't hold the note down like you can with a key, that the on/off event is all in one...
At least thats what i think. The midi monitor I'm using only shows the current state, not a list of everything that has happened...

Are you using MPC to monitor? Yeah says noNote number as well, so it is not getting note number by the looks of it to, but that might be all notes OFF and not note specific.
Have you got JJOS. Go get JJOSXL as well, as it can run on your MPC1000 and has a great midi monitor and will show every midi message in realtime and you can see past events to.
JJOSXL is not free but does work, you just can not save till you buy it, but then you can try it for above, and then solve problem. Also other versions to, including a free one. check it out. You need to see every message otherwise it will not work

yeah your drumming now then? Have you got it set up like a normal trap kit then with kick snare ect or some other arrangement? If you have JJOSXL youget cycle pad play and with this it would be good for this set up I reckon as it can be set up for slight shifts in your drum voices for a natural feel.
