Total Newbie here lol......Need some help starting off

ok basically,i've been listening to hip-hop for about 8 years now and for the past 2 years ive been closly paying attention to not just the lyrics but mainly the beats and instrumentals.
i've thought of making a few of my own tracks but i have no idea where to start off

ive got a laptop,and a few progs like cubase,reason,fruityloops etc.....but i still dont know how to put them to good use lol

so if u guys could show me the way id be very greatful

do you plan on sticking with the software stuff or moving to hardware??

im definetly planning to move to hardware,as im doing a studio performance and production course at the moment,we've been put in the studio,and i dont even know what to do lol

well obviously i'll be getting the mpc2000 as ive been told that its the best drum machine out there,but how easy is it to use? and how come there are soooo many different kinds of upgrades for it? are they vital?

yea the mpc isnt hard to use at all. fun too. well there's different versions of the mpc with different features (of course) and the upgrades depend on you. they are not vital, but if you would like some extra toys to use thats up to you.

but i do think the 2000 is pretty good for a beginner. thats what I use. i love it

I'd get the XL if you can help it.

what can the mpc2000 actually do as standard?
can it be used as like a sampling machine aswell?

oh and what do i actually connect it to? like an amp and speakers or can i connect it to a laptop,desktop etc?

do some searches on the internet. u need to learn what software u got and how to use it. I would goto forums for floops and cubase before u come here. a majority of cats on this board are MPC users.

fruity loops. try the floops home page. it is good beginer software. i dont know why u would have cubase if u dont know anything about it. But reason and floops are were u should start. go do some searches on tutorials for these programs.

yes. the mpc2000 can be stand alone. no you dont need software to use the mpc. i would use both in the setup. i use cool edit pro to record my music onto my computer. But I used to only use my tascam multi track recorder to record my music onto cassette. so no you dont NEED software.

are you plannin on gettin the 2000? or an mpc period?

plus how does it connect to the computer? via which kind of connection?

oh also,can anybody reccomend me a good midi keyboard and a good midi interface system (sound card im guessing) for the pc.

im currently using a laptop,but ive been told by many people that media production is best done on a desktop so im thinking of selling my laptop to get a desktop.

is there anything else i need to look out for except a good sound card?
