this is the first i hear of this..when/where was this proclaimed exactly??

Never heard that either....

Have a link to this claim?

c'mon, jah... never heard of it??? it was YOU that posted that info here in the first place.

1. It's our mission to make sure the pads feel right
2. Creating a custom low latency USB audio driver
3. Creating a custom MIDI driver; 10x faster than standard MIDI
4. LCD data communicated using a private port; pad MIDI data won't interfere w/LCD
5. Touch sensitive Qlinks (rotary pots)
6. Making a committment to update the software, constantly add new features
7. Acknowledges JJ OS...conscious about what Akai customers like about the JJ OS

and yeah i got your link... from this thread here... viewtopic.php?f=36&t=150887&p=1429526

and just to stay on topic... they also mention in that youtube video you posted that for the mpc3000 sound they modeled an ADD converter from the 90's into the hardware.

In the context of Dan's interview, he was discussing how to capture low latency with the Ren as compared to hardware MPCs. Akai's goal was sub 5 ms latency.

This statement "Creating a custom MIDI driver; 10x faster than standard MIDI"...versus your statement that boasts "ensure the tighter timing than anyone elses midi interface when triggering external midi modules and synths"....

Labcoats, is this what you meant?

These two statements are not saying the samething. Or are you referring to another interview/report?

This makes no sense to me. Modeling a design is a software method to emulate responses that are inherent to a electronic circuit. All circuits can be represented with maths and laws, so these mathematical laws are used as a basis to make software calculate similar outcomes mathematically. For instance something real simple like Ohms law Wattage = Volts X Amps, has to be calculated for every part of the circuit to emulate it, that as well as things like Resistivity (W-cm) of the actual metals used as well for proper accuracy. I doubt the modeled that deeply and simply plotted the response from the old DACs in the older MPCs and then used that plot to sculpt the same response as the emulation. Only the most hardcore emulators account for everything, and its hella lot of work (UAD for instance). In fact as electronic circuits can never be perfect it means it is actually hard to calculate the exact response of anything. We say that there is a tolerance range and work with in that, but even temp can effect this. All that to consider and you still have not calculated a whole lot of other things as well, like distortion, johnsons noise, the transformers on the signal path ect ect ect.
So all we see in the ren is modern dac and usually associated filter, just like any other modern DAC, nothing special there, so any claim of special hardware is gonna seem bogus, and its obvious to any one with a clue about engineering circuitry that this 'emulation' is a software thing. How do you emulate hardware = software, and it wont be reversed engineered hardcore, just a response filter. That is the danger of marketing, they start to believe it them selves or discredit or discount real information.
You can not fool people that have a understanding of electronics if we can see the electronics our selves and see that indeed it is nothing different at all, or anything new. (or old in this case lol)
THere are hardcore users here, we want to know the real deal, not marketing hype. That said it is a sad day to see that companies still think it is ok to be loose with the truth, but as consumers it is our responsibility to hold them to account when they lie. That is not at akai or at jah, lets make that clear, I mean all companies. Just so happens Akai is kinda guilty of this though, for hyping something that is just hyped software. Is it a lack of respect to consumers, or is it ignorance or just arrogant? More like trying to ride the coat tails of a once great name in samplers, only to sully its Rep one more time. THat is so my impression but that is by the by. I wanna get one but then for what it is and the price, I am in no way inclined to believe that this is some kind of game changer. And no I do not see it has any hardware in it at all to make it seem like a MPC60 ect. Like I said before, no one is gonna make a old school hardware DAC just for some casual use, it is not economical at all and would push up price even more.
MIDI is another thread and has been tested already I think

Numark, Dan, NEWKAI Drones,

There are videos that specifically and fully expose all these false claims, plus early discussions with Numark reps in this very forum.

At the end of the day its about being able to make music with a "MPC" style workflow with stable working renny controller/software out the box, but you even fumbled on that aspect of the user experience.

Stick a Ren in your ass, because you played yourself. Countdown to the discontinuation begins.

"Discontinuation for consumer products is when a product's manufacture and/or support are stopped by the company that makes the product. This is usually due to low sales, but it does not mean the product never sold well. Many high selling products eventually see a drop in sales and eventual discontinuation, usually after being superseded by a superior product."

i think it's pretty clear by now that there is zero 3000 circuitry in the hardware.. simply the fact that nukai have back tracked on all their statements claiming so is proof enough imo. what is left is the software emulation, and as an MPC60 & SP1200 owner i can't say i'm very convinced by what i've heard so far. indeed as bliprock mentioned there are different levels of accuracy within an emulation. from what my ears can tell i agree that i think all they've done is plot the DAC response. that's a very shallow emulation. at least in Maschine, the SP emulation faithfully replicates the detune artifacts and models the analog filters on the outputs.. fwiw i don't really care that much about vintage mode but i think Nukai really need to step their game up in this department seeing as how they made bold/false claims about it..

and ironically you're the only person here skeptical of the OP's claim and therefore the only one demanding a test to prove it.

Why would I believe something someone asserts without providing proof?

But you believe AKAI/NUMARK!

Ask them to prove it!?

how did you determine this, by sampling same sounds to both mpc and ren or by comparison of your old mpc material recorded in 16bits 44.1hz versus rens factory presets in 24bit 96hz

Im not running 24/96! prolly cause i owned a 1000 since it came out and i know that machine so well and the sound of it.
