Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hi,
I have an MPC 2000xl SE with OS 1.14 which I purchased around 2001. Ive used external scsi drives for storage etc since then and also a cd rom drive. Ive been thinking about purchasing a CF card reader/writer from MPC storage solutions. It requires OS 1.14 which as I said I already have. Its very expensive but I would prefer to spend the money than to tinker with the insides of my MPC especially if it involves soldering etc. It plugs in externally into the scsi port.

What I want to know is - once I write my sequences and wavs to CF can I easily transfer to my macbook pro for back up via a USB reader? Do they have to be formatted a certain way or anything like that?
I vaguely recall reading that OS1.14 utilises full memory available on CF cards but cannot transfer to computer whereas OS1.2 has card memory limitation to about 1 gig but can transfer?? ANy advice appreciated.

Cheers

nah, 1.20 only enables IDE drives... and disables higher than 1 gig...

scsi is unlimited because it can run on 1.14.

the problem that some people have is that macs add hidden garbage onto the card.

There are a couple of compatible IDE/ ATAPI card readers listed in the thread at the top of thhis forum. You dont need expensive SCSI card readers in the 2000XL which has an internal IDE port. Shouldnt cost you more than $30-$50 depending on which one you go for. Theres the Addonics which isnt hot-swappable, and then theres this...

and yes it's hot swappable

Was this one plug and play or did you have to do anything to your XL for it to work?
