Beat Competiton RNd 3THREE (Record of the MOnth)
You gotta make beats using these records/categories. Everything is pretty much game as long as you can explain where the samples came from and that they are justifiyable to the categories......try to keep them vinyl samples.

Records & categories:

60s ERa: basically within the 60s

Chopin: chop chopin, any thing that is chopin

1973 funk: anything thats funk, but has to be pressed in 73

Break Beat: Flip Any famous break beat

Verve: a verve record.

Violin solo record: anything with a solo violin.

Go DJ, This is the carter: lets hear your "ron carter" (anything with ron carter in it)

Lets kick ourselves in the ass this time....i dug, but i didnt post last time like a lazy ass. Lets all do it this time!

Whatz the deal
I might be entering this, but if somebody could explain the rules to me.
Like do you have to use each record on this list, or do you pick which one you want to cover? Any insight would be great.

yeah, pretty much just at least use one of those records, drums could be from anywhere, same with bass.

Its more like a test for your self. I mean, the fun part is going to the record shop and trying to find a specific record (helps your finding skills) Then trying to flip something off that record. Its also so participants can hear others work, and have more insight into them becuase they attempted a similar track, with similiar records. This way you can learn from others as well. Plus it gets you motivated, like dj ede, and iesim have definately motivated me! thanks.

AND it would be cool if you could combine several. Example: sample a break, find a ron carter for bass, then use a violin over that-this would be hot.

But its not required to use more than one record. I tried to keep the categories gernal so that more people would enter......because some catz dont wanna spend $$$, but most of these are pretty easy.

I'm not used to letting people hear my joints, but i figred that i need to get over the bedroom producer thing and open myself up and let other producers hear some things and get some feedback. So I will mos def hit this up and make it happen.

I feel what your saying.

i mean, i use to be like that. I always figured im not "ready" yet. But then a friend of mine made me make him a demo cd. Well we passed the shit out, and everybody ive met, and now work with are because i passed my shit out. I guess i just didnt have confidence in myself. Not sayin that you dont or nothing, but my point is that it never hurts to try something new!

I still dont put my "very best" up, because i dont want someone to steal that joint....i guess i dont want someone to steal any of my shit, thats why i copyright; but i mainly post tracks so that i can improve my skills. Usually its my okay tracks that i need advice on. When i got a hot one I for sure know its hot ya know?

Sometimes you also need to post for the reward. I mean, im fully satisfied with my music, but when someone else likes it, it makes it that much better when you can affect or inspires someone else.

Alot of times you need some sort of feed back to improve your skills. Im constantly improving becuase my emcee friends let me know the truth. Sometimes you gotta take some people's comments with a grain of salt-because everybody has differant tastes.

But there is nothing like a fellow producer givin you constructive critisism, cause they usually know the deal and can elaborate on thier opinions.

it's from the 60's era the samples used are as followed:

vocalstaken from play with fire thus the name playin wit Fieyer
violinstaken from AS tEARS GO BY
drums taken from HONKY TONK WOMAN

this is the RROLLING STONES HOT ROCK 1964-1971. it a double record album.
all the track i used were from the years 66-69

evry thing was taken from this album nothing was used from an outside source, it sounds a little ruff aorund the edges but you be the jugde, listen and any feed back is appreciated,

I haven't been beatin' lately. I had about 1 year just for crate diggin
this took only a little time and it's not been mixed. still CHECK IT!
