Just got the Ren last week. A couple of beats I made have missing samples in them after I save them and try to reopen them.

One has the samples names in the project information but the actual sample seems to be missing. Those are drums that i actually have on my hard drive so I've been importing them back into the session so it's not that bad.

A beat I did last night tho was a sample I recorded from youtube and chopped up in the Ren. Now I just tried to load the project and the whole sample is gone. The name is in the arrange window but not in the project information. Anybody have this problem? I have to say the Ren has been more of a headache than productive for me by far

I have actually had this problem and asked around but no one else had it. So it's nice to see someone else who has had this problem (sorry). I've done about 20 beats on it and its only happened on 2 beats. I don't think it has happened in the last 10 beats I've saved. So I've just got on with it.

It was really a case of when I loaded the projects the events were there but just certain samples didn't load... Is that right.

Yeah exactly the events are there but the samples aren't. Like i said it happened with drums but I had the samples on my drive so it wasnt a big deal. But the sample i chopped up and arranged that's a different story. No way to tell exactly how I chopped it. I only made 3 beats and it happened on two.

Are you on a mac and running Lion? Maybe that has something to do with it? It's not a good feeling making a beat now and not knowing if the samples are actually going to be saved. This aint cool

Just tried it. Samples are still missing. Thanks anyway

maybe you just gotta redownload the sample and point ren to it ?...kinda like what you did with drums

I think what he means is that he sampled it through the ins and didn't load it so the sample doesn't exist anymore..?

Anyway I am on windows 8 so I don't believe it to be a mac thing.

Yeah I sampled it thru the ren and the sample is gone. I searched my computer and its not there anymore

I've had this problem too!!! One more than one occasion, most recently last night! I think it has something to do with saving your project. I find myself saving VERY often due to the current state of the software. I've noticed, when I'm finished working on a project, I save. Then when I close that project, it asks me if I want to save again, even tho I JUST saved. Saving that second time may be the issue.

I have other theories that may contribute to this problem also:

I don't save my projects in the MPC created folder on C: I save them on an external drive.

I also think when you chop something and create a new program, you should go to that program and save it manually. Especially when your chopping and creating more than one program.

I think when you start a new project, chopping and creating programs, Without saving to a project file first, these chops and programs are being stored in a temporary folder. Then you save, and your project file is pointing to this temp folder. And the temp folder is being deleted the moment you close the project.

My $.98

^ you might be on to something. I actually Thought it might have to do with the way the samples were named as I left it as default. It does not do it to loaded samples. Am I right in thinking this?

I can't use auto save on anything it causes bad house keeping.
This is the reason I'm very intolerant of crashing or freezing computers, I need them to deliver up time.
Back around 2001 I had a computer give me problems when I was trying to finish something for a client for their lawyer and it cost me.
Never again.

I only had this problem happen on one project and haven't seen it anymore since making some changes in habits.

It doesn't show as an error it's just like the old 2kxl thing where a file name was too long or something and gets changed so the program shows the "?" in the name to say file unfound.
Not all the samples where affected just the chops in a given program.

For me when it did it I had lazily left the name default then chopped up a sample.

I always do this. Never came across this issue! Wonder what it could be. Seems like it might be more related to sampling into the Ren. I hardly ever do that. Most of what I sample I load in from the browser, then chop it!

This is currently happening to me as well. Has anyone figured out how to fix to this issue?

All of my previous saved drums and sampled sounds play just fine that are saved on my hard drive.

The Problem:
Sampling Sounds from Vinyl: Saving and Re-Loading issue in MPC Ren OS1.5

I sampled drums from my MPC3000 into the MPC Ren. The drums play and trigger fine in PGM sequence of a beat prior to saving and after. However when I save and close out the beat then load up the beat again at a later time. The newly sampled sounds are missing on the Assigned pads. The Sounds are located in the entire Beat Folder and they are labeled but no audio plays for the saved sounds.

My Failed troubleshooting attempts:

I've saved the the Project and I tried saving just the PGM with the newly sampled sounds. The sounds still will not play when I load the Recent project with the Drums or when I start a New project and load just the saved PGM.

The files as present in the PGM folder however when I choose to Reference the Sounds in Entire Beat Folder with Auto Play button Highlighted the sounds don't play.

My 2 cent assessment:

It has to be something dealing with how the Ren Software is currently formatting/saving the wav sound. I have even tried to load the Sounds into Traktor they still will not playback. So I believe my newly saved sounds are being corrupted in the saving process within the Ren since the newly saved audio will not playback in other audio programs.

My Band-Aid Fix for now:

I've had to just export the audio stem files in order to keep all the elements of the beat in tac to revisit the groove in my Daw. Since I can't get the sounds to save properly in MPC Ren software.
