well the 4k is nuakai so they can do something right then?

but them sounds are pretyy much the same so not much init

but yes would of been preferable to hear an og drum break untreated

then the same drum break loaded into the ren and the 3k and the outputs recorded

with the vintage mode on for the ren and see whats popping

but so far the ren sounds as good as the 3k

Really? I can put that to the test as well after the Ren and MPC 3000 battle.

Here in Japan...a local dealer is doing MPC sound battles....until the end of Jan. When you enter the store, they have an MPC 3000, 2500, and MPC Ren all line up. Then they have vinyl, Linn LN-1, Odyssey, Minimoog, and a Rhodes that users can access and sample into each MPC. And of course...all these MPCs they have available for sale.

that is the absolute real way to do it, making a full beat using analog sources for samples, drums, synths & keys. man i love japan, you should take note jah or at least film the event if u can!

as mentioned... this "test" was done completely wrong from the start... your idea of strictly using the mpc3000's outputs as if it weren't even a sampler isn't even allowing the mpc3000 to get it's signature sound... let me know when i can vote on a REAL test. and LOL at you calling this an "mpc3000 battle"... wtf?

Sorry. I disagree.

There are no rules to what audio sources you choose to load into these MPCs. These samples contain the sonic imprint of both these MPCs. And so far...we have forum members indicating they sound different...and some that said not too much of a difference.

Regardless.....you will have to vote now to end this part of my test or simply wait until more votes come in. But I won't add different audio sources until my 'flawed' test is complete.

Peace.

what difference would you expect anyone to hear if you're simply using the MPC3000 as a rompler?? all you're doing here is loading a sound [a poorly selected one at that] into each MPC and playing it through it's outputs. this in no way represents the actual sound of either unit. if you want forum members to take your posts seriously, please be serious. i guess this what we should expect from one of your polls though... the last one you started was "do you plan on purchasing the ren?" and it didn't even have NO as an option.

do you compare digital cameras by loading photos taken by another camera and seeing how they look when loaded into memory? i would hope not. the point is to actually USE THE INSTRUMENT and compare the results from each.

not to mention this thread has over 950 views and only 15 votes

that should be a very clear indicator that 99% people aren't taking this test seriously.. it's an epic fail, just get it over with and move to the next attempt for godsake..

4k is not Nukai. It was the last official Akai product. The original Akai team can hold their heads high - they threw in the towel on a high note. The Daw revolution was in full swing. Hardware samplers were officially dead according to many. It was a massive uphill battle before they even released it.

No Jah, leave that test to me. It would be a p[roper test then.
However, I see little point in such a test though. There is no 4k
emulation.

I wasn't aware you had a monopoly on this.

But since I actually own a Ren and MPC 3000, I will continue to do my own tests and post the results for those that are interested.

My future tests will include the MPC 4000, 2500, MV-8800, and the ASR-10. I will include what I did to set up each test. Individual forum members can look at my results, participate if they choose to, and decide for themselves if that data useful. *I already have you down for data not useful.

*News Flash*
Nukai invents Star Trek 25th century style replicator technology for its Renaissance controller.

At the flick of a button the Renaissance user can materialise any convertor in to the controller device allowing it to sound exactly the same as classic Akai MPCs as well as any other drum machine or sampler from the past. Until now this could only be done by using shady marketing and dubious software emulation. Akai released a statement compelling all owners of old machines to sell them at the local jumble sale now that Nukai have made them all useless. Just pony up for the Renaissance and be done with it said a Nukai spokesman on twitterface.

please don't post any more of your supposed tests, jah... you couldn't even get this one right... no one even cares to vote on this one here because it doesn't even make any sense. i'm trying not to resort to insulting you, but for a self-proclaimed "mpc champ" and as someone that is overly vocal about thinking he knows what current MPC users want, you really don't seem to know a thing about how MPCs actually function and how to properly compare them.

labcoats test would be the one to follow if you review his criteria and method for testing.
