So, my 2 year old son inserted a credit card into the floppy drive on my mpc 60 and now it wont read any disks.

Anything similiar happen to anyone? Is the drive toasted? What are my options and are there any other compatible drives that will work for the mpc 60? The only ones I found are like $167.

Trying to find a cheaper way to go.

A number of replacement original drives are suitable but hard to find usually, check thru the MPC60 bible thread. Some newer drives can be modified to work in the 60, these are sold online for ridiculous prices, some forum members know how to do the modification. You can replace the drive with a USB floppy emulator or a HxC SD joint and be done with floppies altogether. It's all here in this forum if you look more than a few pages deep.

It's 2012. Who you uses floppy disk anymore? I'd say upgrade to the USB floppy emulator or a HxC SD and be done with floppies. That's the next thing I'm doing when my floppy drive fails.
