Share your knowledge on these two classic MPCs

Linn Drum II was originally going to be a follow up to the original Linn Drum (duh)

It's original concept was therefore not to be a follow up to the MPC sampling drum machines.. but rather a 21s century version of the classic drum machine..

...most of those ideas ended up in Tempest, which meant it was back to the drawing boards for the LDII..

..it is still unclear at this stage what features will be in it.. assuming it even comes out..

my feeling is Roger has nothing to prove, he's already changed the game several times and has been duly awarded for his influences and innovations.

..also keep in mind he is into a quality approach, not quantity.. that means slower development in order to get proper R&D... and quality construction which demands time to source proper materials, assembly, technology patents etc..

i honestly prefer this approach to Nukai's hit & run philosophy.. but to each his own

This is not the Tempest forum. Very few people (if any) here actually own the Tempest. And my comments are directly related to this thread (Roger Linn interview/cult) whether you agree or not.

Trying to wind them up? 'Them' are not relevant.

I don't recall saying this discussion or your comments went outside this thread. I'm simply pointing out the irony in you giving people sh*t about their excitement for the Tempest irrespective of whether they own one or not.

It's no different than when you were excited about not owning a Ren, yet thought you were being victimised.

It's blatant hypocrisy.

Or wait, how about this for another one of your tricks Jah... you can't have an opinion on the Tempest really can you? You don't even own one.

They're not imitating you, it is called Down's Syndrome, they were born like that, what's your excuse?

And yes, they don't even come close!

This one has been locked once already, I cleaned it up and removed all the personal swipes. I don't want to do all that again. Just ignore the person that is baiting you and continue the conversation amongst yourselves, otherwise this thread is probably finished.

Actually, I see more excitement about Roger Linn being who he is and not for the Tempest. Very few people here have purchased one (just like very few people here actually own Roger Linn signature MPCs :? ). I am not giving anyone sh*t about their preference for it. I only mentioned it because we are talking about RL and the products he has created since the MPC 3000.

* One thing of note about the Tempest is that if you are not into programming synths and you want it to sound great right out the box...you may be disappointed. The default sounds you get when you turn it on sounds really cheesy like some of the old school drum machines. You have to program it to get that punch.

This is negative opinion based on not owning the machine, it's not helpful for anyone.

If I made a similar statement about the Ren you'd be getting threads locked or requesting the forum be split up.

Back on topic for those wondering about the AdrennaLinn, this is worth a little watch:

It'd be interesting to hear some massive analogue pads through this. Instant rhythmic basic channel-esque sounds possibly?

EDIT: And while randomly searching I've found this little gem too.... Roger Linn AND Carl Craig??? F*ck yes.

Carl Craig and Roger Linn, wow that is a nice surprise. Nice find Scooby. :-D

And Jah, I think anyone who's about to drop $2000 on an analog drum machine is not buying it for presets. You're trying to put forth some sort of caveat by stating something obvious.

If Linn was still employed at Akai Jah you'd be in here showing of your tattoo of his signature.
