PCB Board Removal Problem

What's up everyone,

I am in the middle of changing out the tact switches for a couple of buttons on my MPC 1000 and while I was removing the PCB board I noticed that he black connector on the blue ribbon on the left side of the board has come off of the ribbon. It doesn't look like anything broke off or that it was glued in so I'm thinking that I can just put it back together when I reinstall the board.

Has anyone run into a similar problem when changing out tact switches or the PCB board, any help would be greatly appreciated.

No personal experience with that. But generally a ribbon cable is cool if the contacts are still seated correctly inside the connector.

That kind of ribbon connector, there's a certain way you need to use them to not damage the ribbon cable.

If the wire is not damaged, it's fine, but in the future, you want to do the following to disconnect/connect it, to avoid any extra strain on the fragile ribbon cable:

On the sides, there's two little nubs on the black connector. Those are part of a little piece can be slid outwards from the board. This loosens the connector from the ribbon.
Slide out that piece, disconnect the ribbon.
When you're hooking it all back up, have the piece slid out and insert the ribbon, then slide the piece back in to clamp it down again.

Have fun with your new tact switches, having those high quality Alps or Omron switches makes it feel a lot nicer to use.

The cable seem to be fine, I think the black clip just slid off. When I disconnected the black clip it came off pretty easily, I don't know if that is a bad thing, but I think I'll be fine.
