greets

have any of you guys successfully imported midi files created in NI Maschine into MPC with JJOS? I exported some midi files from my Maschine, played them back in windows no prob, but when I load them in the MPC it loads the files with the correct bar length but there are no notes.

any ideas?

why scroll? I'm exporting the patterns, not playing them back from Maschine to the MPC, or did you mean something else?

I used STEP edit to see if there are any events on any track, there is nothing. I tried importing midi files from a midi drum loop library and they work fine.

Yeah this is what I meant:

Hmm... not familiar with Maschine, but remember hearing weird MIDI compatibility issues with it before.

I've also heard that there are couple of different ways to export MIDI from Maschine. Did you try 'drag & drop from Maschine to your DAW and then saved MIDI? Could you run your Maschine patterns/sequences and record directly to MPC?

I have to fire up Maschine and check. It may be that exported file doesn't have proper MIDI note assignments if you weren't using MIDI to pad or whatever Maschine calls those settings.

I usually only drag audio out of Maschine in Ableton and I use Live MIDI routing to direct traffic in place of dragging out the MIDI.

I'll make some MIDI tracks in Maschine and try them in an MPC and get back to you.

Like m:t:c said the MIDI implementation on Maschine is odd, for example you can not load a MIDI file into it period, which I think is somewhat insane.

That is interesting to see that happen astronaut. I have had a friend export from fruity loops a midi file for me from his laptop, in the lab. And guess what?? the exact same thing, where there is no midi info at all, just blank tracks. And I know it seems not a problem for JJOS reading midi files as I have loaded a lot of midi files for a laugh (think cheesy cover) and they work fine. So its like the DAW is not exporting track midi info ? I do not use my friends DAW, but i can open it on computer and it is blank anyways so it was FL or how he was using it.

I've tried something else: drag and dropped the midi files created with Maschine into Ableton Live (as clips), then exported the clips as midi files, they work fine! The MPC loads them and the notes are there. Now this is weird.....

Ye that sux, I thought I did not search Maschines users manual good enough, thought the function just had to be there....

Maschine is also lacking internal midi routing, i.e. ability to route the midi output of one pad to another internally, and it also lacks the ability to use midi plugins before the midi output since the MIDI out can only be inserted in the first module. I wish these functions were implemented so I would not have to use Ableton Live.
