[REQ] ERASE/ EXCEPT NOTE/ <HIT PAD>

I m probably missing something simple but I think the current behavior is strange.

Background : I have a sequence, one track and I want to keep only events from one pad in order to resample.

Pad mute is not compatible with REC mode so I had to copy this sequence and use the ERASE function.



First time I tried to use the EXCEPT NOTE option, that doesn t seem to work. I had a quick look in the manual it can t do what I want anyway, but nothing happens when I press DO IT so I wonder if there s not another bug.

Finally I did manual erasing in STEP EDIT.

That makes me want to request a <hit pad> option for EXCEPT NOTE like in the NOTE ONLY screen. It seems way more intuitive to me.

Would be nice! In the mean time wouldn't 'pad move' do it for you?

yeah I know what ya mean le rat.... mtc is on the ball as usual to.
My way is to set the track to MIDI, then use the delete by range function.
I set the range around the note I want, be it mid or drum.
So if you want just Pad 2 only (what ever sample or midi,) and Pad 2 is set to MIDI note number C#3, and you want to set the range to delete C1 - C3, then again, delete range D3 to C6 or what ever it goes to. If it is the lowest or highest note, you only do this once, as there is no note above or below, depending.

Thanks for the MIDI range and pad move tricks. Indeed, in the above case pad move could have done the job very quickly. I don't know why it didn't come up to my mind

Finally I requested a "KEEP NOTE" feature with the <HIT PAD> option and I asked if he could rename EXCEPT NOTE to ALL EXCEPT NOTE. I'm not a native speaker but I think it makes more sense because it erases everything except notes. When I tried to use this function for the first time I thought it was the opposite of NOTE ONLY.
