Hello! I'm using several midi controlled synthesizers (such as the Moog Minitaur) in Ableton on my Macbook. In Ableton I create midi clips which have note data and filter envelopes that control the Moog Minitaur using the VST Editor for the Minitaur.

I'd like to transfer the midi files (with filter envelope control data) onto an MPC 1000 so that I can use the MPC to control the Moog mintaur by triggering clips that have the note and filter envelope data.

To make sure the filter envelope control data transfers from the VST in Ableton, it seems that it would be a good idea for me to try and emulate the MPC OS on my mac to mac sure the filter envelopes are assigned properly to control the Minitaur from the MPC.

Is there an MPC OS emulator for mac that I can use to edit control?

It's important that I begin the process in Ableton as that's partr of my basic studio workflow. The MPC 1000 is used as an analog synth controller in live settings.

Thanks!
H

Hi hull, well where to start..... MPCs can load MIDI files and play midi files, so if the MIDI CCs are correct then it will work. Simple.
If you want something like clips, then you need JJOSXL 3.24
In fact you need a JJOS to replace the Akai one, as it sucks. Trust me you will thank me after switching. So get to it, get JJOSXL..... Why?? well it has track to pattern/pattern to pad. This will allow you to set up things similar to clips and mean that each pad can trigger a MIDI sequence you have made, with filter CC info.
Also- Do you have a MIDI interface for your computer?? Why not send the MIDI out of your DAW through to your MPC then back out to your synth. That would be better option don't you think? its realtime analysis isn't it? If no MIDI interface, just load a MIDI file in your MPC and try it. Would only take a few minutes.
Look at your moogs MIDI chart for the MIDI CCs, and then it will work.
JUST as an example I will post a track for ya. This is made with JUST MPC and hardware synths. But is full of MIDI CCs for filters. So no DAW is used at all. I use no computer to make this, its all MIDI programming, I did myself. So it can easily be done and you do not need to 'test' it with an emulator. In fact I do not of one at all. So hopefully you will understand that the MPC plays what you put in it, so get that right and it will work. Also JJOSXL does allow MIDI CCs to Qlink slider to, and you probably like that, and means MPC can also control software if you have MIDI interface.

The beginning is a bit long, but you can hear the changes to the synths, and that is all the MPC.
So yeah, if you still are having problems, PM us, or ask here.

Also look into JJOS2XL for the PC/CC to pad feature it is quite versatile and unique
control of external gear/vst.

The answer to your question is no, there is no MPC software emulator. You may find software with similar functionality to an MPC but there's nothing out there that can create or load up and play back MPC format sequencer/project files.

OK, sounds good. There's no emulator, but I should be able to control the envelopes pretty well by setting it up with JJOS and matching CCs (or just doing it with the MPC).

Great info, thanks again everyone!
