3K zip scsi f**** problem + CRUSH OF THE SAMPLER

Ok, well I assume that you will have a hard time finding an scsi replacement board for the 3k. These mpcs do not often get broken for spares. You might have to keep your eyes open for a beat up 3k, that you can buy cheap and use the board and maybe some other useful spares.

Although I don't know the solution to your problem, can I ask how long you've owned this MPC and where did you get it from? Just trying to establish whether you bought it like this or the fault 'developed' under your ownership.

I would not be changing SCSI fuses, replacing SCSI boards, whatever, based on a single Zip drive not working.

Have you tested the MPC with any other SCSI drives, or have you tested that particular Zip drive on a different SCSI system than your MPC, to ensure that the MPC SCSI is definitely not working, and that the Zip drive is definitely working correctly, to begin with?

Zips are unreliable pieces of s**t!!!

Having a broken bolt that holds the SCSI plug on would not have anything to do with it.

Have you tested the original SCSI fuse with a multimeter, and the new one when you put it in, are they like a normal fuse, that when it blows should read open circuit?

The suggestion about cf reader is good, but the point is that the scsi port is f*** up most probably. I got to this conclusion when I exchanged the F2 fuse and connected the scsi cable from zip drive to mpc scsi port WITHOUT SWITCHING ON THE ZIP DRIVE. Even though the mpc got blank screen (but this time without all red lights on) and didn't want to start. When I unplugged the scsi cable after switching it off and when I switched it on again everything was fine.

Does anybody have a clue what problem can it be?

Your MPC 3000 has a fan installed inside?

It sounds like you have a problem with 5V somewhere in your unit.

Could be in the power supply. Check the SI-3052V on the power supply to make sure it is operating correctly. The blown fuse suggests that it may have an issue.
