Hi,

I'm new to MPCs and tried setting up my 2500 today.
First thing I did was bought JJOS-XL and it flashed ok, however occasionally it comes up with "Flash Rom Write Error". Sometimes it freezes the machine, sometimes it doesn't.

I tried to do some troubleshooting to narrow down the issue:

* It also does this when I hold the erase key on power-on.
* I seem to be able to power on holiding erase when using the Akai OS, JJOS free, OS1 and OS2.
* I tried going back to the Akai OS, then up to JJOS free the to XL again, but I've still got the issue. I've tried v3.24 and v3.22.
* I tried flashing the Akai OS by holding down "window" on boot and then re-applying JJOS free and XL. Same issue.

Any suggestions?

Cheers.

Did you try to redownload the file from JJ's site? Make sure it's the 2500 version & that the filesize is around 1.5mb.

Reinstall it after downloading it and boot it while holding [ERASE] (like you mentioned doing before).

Yeah i tried re-downloading all the files to make sure they weren't corrupt.
I actually went through about 10 mins of hitting random buttons a few hours ago and it doesn't seem to be doing it any more (normally i'd see that error within about 10 seconds of doing this). I've even managed to create a quick drum loop without seeing the error.

I'm not going to be brave and do another reset to see if the issue come back, bearing in mind I have no idea what actually made it go away. Fingers crossed that it's "fixed itself" but I'm generally quite confused about what I could have done to make it better. I work in the IT industry and it's my natural inclination to find out the root cause of the issue, but I don't think I'm going to delve any further assuming the issue doesn't come back.

Advice much appreciated :).
Will report back if I have any more problems.
