accessories instead of coming out with a completely new product.
build a solid idea and then keep developing it with software updates and hardware additions.

i've heard great things about KMI as a company. i would absolutely consider working for them someday as their development model/humility/user driven business model is right up my alley.

That quneo controller looks dope, I'm waiting for the qunexus that thing looks sick.

this thing is really cool.

the concept is really pretty incredible/obvious. everything sends a sh!t ton of midi. open a monitor and bash some pads and you will see a flood of incoming info.

it has a bunch of presets for all types of software, including the freeware serato-like software "mixxx," which is cool. nothing for REAPER yet. that's why i'm here, i guess. i've decided to go REAPER for live work as well, because i've tried LIVE again and again and just been frustrated by certain aspects of it. i'm working with a couple developers to try to get REAPER up to speed for clip triggering and MIDI sequence looping.

the editor is very straightforward. it'd be nice if there were more global control options. it's a little clicky, but lots better than many other editors out there (automap...blech...holds both your hands and then reaches for your wang as well)

the real question is gee, what to do with all these midi signals? i think it'd be great to use it as a MIXXX controller to do some live cuts/slice queues without the burden of carrying decks...but for my live stuff i'm trying to start simple.

the downsides: it's tiny. those who want their money reflected in weight will be disappointed.
the lights are beautiful, but i wished they used more blue. blue LED is definitely the coolest looking. the rubber used for the pads is a little too stiff, as usual, and the pads themselves are not high enough for those used to MPCs. however, they definitely do the job and then some, so there's not much legitimate whining you can do.

The SOS review mentions perceptible lag with pressure sensitivity. How noticeable is it?

aaand it's short because SOS is subscriber based.

I was reading it in a shop this morning but the assistant was giving me the "this isn't a library" look, so I had to cut it short.

You can't go wrong for the price though.

it's brilliant. i'm still in awe of it. it's the most fun controller i've ever purchased.

you've got to know how to freek MIDI to use it, for sure. each pad sends a TON of midi info and you've gotta know how to get your host to respond to it properly.

the best thing is all of the different presets. you can turn the quneo into 16 different controllers/instruments - way more than i can even come up with. offhand for my live work i'm envisioning 3/4:

1- drum controller (duh) using POISE as sampler. faders/buttons will control FX.
2- beatbox=>MIDI drum machine FX controller (may be combined with above)
3- outgoing mix controller (fx control over drum/instrument bus)
4- mixxx (freeware serato-style dj software) controller for scratching samples

and that's barely 1/4th of the possibilities.

quneo is not optimized out of the box for REAPER, admittedly. but i'm stubborn as sh!t and sneaky so that doesn't stand in my way.


one of the coolest thing is using some of the faders' LEDs as EQ/VU meters...the LEDS will flash in time with different EQ bands of your outgoing signal...so you can instantly cut out everything but the bass/treble for emphasis.

Can it be programmed for sysex or just standard midi messages?
