[REQ] PAD6 in TRIM back to the way it was (JOSXL)

I've never, ever liked the change to how PAD6 works in TRIM and still to this day it annoys me.

I don't want to be hitting PAD6 to hear my sample whilst editing it's end point, only to have my damn screen flip back to the start point. So, you've got to hit a different pad to hear the same sound but have the screen change position It's a usability bug that I've bared since JJ changed it but I cannot get on with it at all and it annoys me greatly.

I love how different pads let you do different things in TRIM. Makes chopping really fast. Are you sure you've checked the documentation?

Bump. This still annoys the hell out of me. I hate it!

I use the CURSOR keys and - + along with SHIFT to move about and zoom in and out of my sample mega fast. I edit really, really quickly. Having to hit one pad to audition and edit the left side of the sample, then hit a different pad to audition and edit the right side of the sample is a major, major slow down and very, very, very annoying.

i'll place a request to optionally turn off pad edit functionality since it sounds like it drives you crazy...no promises, of course

before i do, let me make sure that it's ok with you if all pads simply play from the start of a slice....? for the record, now is not the time for FR's - we're just trying to alleviate your frustration.

Agree with blip here, makes no sense imo. if option is given, then it's all good. Plz re-read the doc.

It's a great feature, don't see the problem myself, just spend a little time adjusting, can't see the need for additional options adding to the OS.

I can see that you all seem to like having to keep switching pads to audition your sample. Fair enuff.
Are you all on the mpc1000 by any chance? I ask because I use the SHIFT along with the - + keys to edit values rapidly but I see this isn't possible on the 1000.

I work so fast when editing in TRIM that I find the alternating audition button/pad to be a hinderance and a PITA.
I know how it works, lol... it just slows me down.

I can understand me getting flak for not liking it if every1 else likes it....

You mean the FROM and TO functionality will be lost if JJ changes the functionality back to how it was with an option button?

I can assure you that I chop like Speedy-Gonz-Ninja and this ever-changing audition button/pad slows me down.

see the funny thing is that i edit samples very very quickly too and somehow i don't have to do that. i think because i am perpetually editing start points, rarely end points

I love the pad features, and think there should be more of them, not less. Especially in slice and chop, having to select regions and move the cursor around with the buttons is really bad. A lot more thought could be put into the workflow there.

I feel it should be possible to do all chopping and adjusting of start and end on the chops with the left hand, and the right hand should zoom in and out and turn the wheel to move the point. What do you experts think? Introduce a pad to select the next chop, and a different pad to select the previous, and some other pads to select the start, end, loop, etc button-free...

As long as the cursor doesn't keeping jumping about between the START: and END: values whilst I'm auditioning and rapidly editing the sample in the normal TRIM view.

I literally haven't touched my data wheel for at least 3 years. Instead, I use SHIFT and - + for stupid fast value changing. Very precise and lightening quick. Can you do the same or an equivalent on an mpc1000? Some of these posts make me think not.
