I'd like to see something added to the MPC Song Mode, the ability to trigger sequences live (like a performance) and have the option to record that live triggering. As demonstrated here with Cakewalk's
Project5 2.5Not only would I like it to work similarly to what you see in the video, but I'd like to take that a step further to something possibly never done before. Lets say we create a 4 bar sequence, then we move to Song Mode with that single sequence.
From here, we Solo or Mute down to one or two tracks, which create the feel of our intro for this song. Hit Record/Play on the transport, trigger the Pad our sequence is assigned to and the MPC begins recording the playback of the 4 bar Sequence, (in its linear fashion), into a Measure recording which we will call our 'Song Track'.
As the MPC records this single 4 bar Sequence into what will be our 'Song Track', we would be able to bring in, or eliminate elements from our tracks simply by triggering Mutes and/or Solos. With that, we create our Verses, Hooks, Breaks...ect.
By Muting/Soloing, we would actually allow or prevent the Midi events in those tracks from being recorded to our new 'Song track' which again contains all those elements from the Sequence.
Further adding to the thought, Using Over Dub in Song Mode could be used to record overlaps/layers into the Song Track from other Banks and/or Sequences.
I think this recording method would allow us to create songs in a more than lightning fast way!
Another Cakewalk Program
(Seen here) came close to doing this, but not quite. Even so, seeing it in action could give you a better picture of what I'm talking about doing here.
I'm truly new to the MPC, so I'm not sure if this is already possible; as far as I can tell it isn't.
Still, I think this would only add to the Beastly recording abilities MPC's are known for... while putting the ReN itself further into a world of its own and with nothing else even coming close to touching it!
We can call it the option to record in 'Nu Song Mode' or "The art of fighting without fighting"
and still have the Classic Song Mode as well! Akai
"Do It!"
