filters for isolation

anyone know what the pros use, is there some really expensive filter that does a wicked job or is it more just knowing how to use a filter properly ?


also.. could somone gimme a quick rundown on phase invert in nuendo, or cooledit

what exactly are you trying to isolate?

The eq in nuendo is parametric and is great to my ears. Go to the mode with the little window with the curve.

vocals mostly, but just in general..
i use the filter factory but i find it to be a bit finicky sometimes.. especially when im trying to get anything other than bass

a multiband compressor helps vocals a lot, but parametric eq is the best, try the stuff in nuendo, it is pretty good, or try some waves eq's if they got them, or even T-racks eq module is tight.

nothing beats a real tube eq, but pultec's are way too expensive.
