Mpc 2000 hissing noise while in sample mode

on my mpc2000 I often have to have the mpc record gain knob all the way down and I have to turn down the source volume even lower just to it wont clip on the threshold meter in the record screen of the mpc. When I run my line level turntable into the mpc, I have to turn it up to maybe 10 o'clock or 11 o'clock... but if the record is quiet, I may have to turn it to like 1 o'clock or 2.... but never close to the max or as I said... it clips in the mpc.


with nothing connected to the record inputs (unplug everything except the master outs and the power) now... are you hearing a hiss with the record gain (red) knob turned all the way down?

sorry, super late reply, been mad busy. no connections or inputs, just outs to speakers, yes I hear hiss same with headphone socket

oh, I dont know then...

If you could record the hiss, and post it that might help? It might sound silly but the type of "hiss" could really help determine whats going on, but it won't be definitive.
