Hello, had my MPC1000 about a month and a half. Upgrade to free JJOS and have been putting in work and research daily, studied the owners manual, bought the tutorial e book, yada yada...But I'm STILL intimidated with Saving and Loading though, just a few questions...

Say I turn on my machine and want to work more on a previous beat and got to load Project. I make my changes and like the finished beat, then when I got to Save Entire Memory..should I overwrite the existing Project, or make it a new Project?

Should I create a new Folder and save the project there, or just save to Memory Card?

Another question...Say I just start fresh and load samples and create a few Programs, then make a few sequences and want to save. Should I save each individual Program, each individual sequence ONLY? Or should I save them individually AND Save Entire Memory too?

It's just scary with all the choices it gives you when saving / loading on this thing. Like "replace same files", "doing this will overwrite existing date" "file error" " create error" etc. etc..

I've lost a lot of stuff I've already worked on and pretty much desperate to not have to re-make the same things down the road. Thank you very much for reading my rambling post and any advice / suggestions is GREATLY APPRECIATED!

okay...

Well, first off, make sure you've formatted your card within JJOS (F4 button on the save/load/usb screen, I think). That should prevent formatting/file errors and such.

Every single project NEEDS to be in its own folder. Otherwise you'll lose data when it overwrites files from other projects. When you have a previously saved project that you loaded and made some changes to, you can overwrite the all file in the project's folder. Or, if you want to keep the old version as is, you can start a new folder.

It's probably best to just do the SAVE ENTIRE MEMORY for every project you do, even small ones, that way it's sure to save all the necessary programs/samples/sequences automatically.

Hell yeah, thanks dude!

For some reason I've never really even realized to "format" the card. I guess I've just overlooked that for some reason. I am getting a better understanding now and I'll my saving the last few days has worked! Before I just kind of had it all Save to: Memory Card. Instead of creating a New Folder and making sure each Project goes in there. I probably sound like an idiot, but I really appreciate your response. I think another month or two and I'll be good to go with everything. :smoker:
