PIcs of your cribs..

The VS is a programmers machine, totally not a preset machine, and for me it's really intuitive/fun & DEEP, but best of all, the sounds that come out of it are spine tingling + unique.. Really has a surprisingly organic tone....even just using one sawtooth & high rez with portamento is straight magic.
I wanted an obxa/ob8 at the time which I could have had for 200€ more.. but I went for the VS, still look out for those obies, but the VS can cover them to an extent, minus the balls in the bassend/overdriven sound...
I also have a microwave with the same cem filter chips as the VS, and yet they sound totally unalike... at high rez the VS kills... it's also richer and more organic, but it has less bass, unless you use unison, or load bass waves into it..
You do need to get a stock of spare parts for the VS if you're planning on keeping it going for the next yrs.. but you prob know all about that with a memorymoog on the way

With the memorymoog youre really set on the big ana poly front, amazing synth... to augment it with an obxa would be total overkill , but if I had the cash I'd prob also be tempted.... You're lucky to live in london too, alot of good techs around there.

You can hear the VS in the first 15secs of my sig audio, recorded onto tape echoed r2r, and the last 15 secs, detuned saw lead & high rez tone.

That thingamajingy is my Studio Electronics ATC-1 with corresponding filter rack (Minimoog, TB-303, ARP 2600 & Oberheim SEm).
Great instrument for weird bass sounds and other funky stuff often used in Hiphop/R&B productions...i use it mostly for D&B/Dubstep kind of stuff.

I bought the memorymoog as found one cheap enough to get partially rebuilt and still make a profit if it needed to be sold - am getting all the unreliable internal wiring and connections replaced, not a small job, but found a good guy who was willing to do it for a non rip off price. which means in a few years it should still tune ok.

get it back in a few weeks, can't wait!!

OBXa really makes me loose sleep though... and am aware the cash I'd get from the memorymoog would get me a OBXa + a extra killer synth.

love the VS though, they really don't come up in UK often.

A little homerecording & mix'n'mastering studio of my friend in Poland. He is the main soundman in indoor audience recording for a few TV shows. Also soundman in some big music events here in PL. The vacuum tube amps are seperated for the left and right monitors mady by himself - Now his equipment is even bigger, more in and outputs, better monitors and still looks like a shack

Don't have a great desk, so I have to be a little creative with the space lol.
I have a cheap vinyl player, but it does the trick exactly how I want it too.

Finding a memoymoog cheap is quite a rare thing nowadays, nice work.
Personally I'd also sell it after it's fixed up, and go for what you said..
But did you know the ob8 can be modded, so it has a beefier bass end like the xa.
You can also mess with the tuning calibration so it's closer to the xa..

thats good price on the VS - germany does seem to be the place for good audio bargains.

OB8's actually go for more than the OB-Xa in the UK, OBXa's can be got for under 2K

even if they can be modded the OB8 doesn't appeal to me so much - once you get over a certain spend its best to hold out for the real deal if its in the same price ballpark.

I'm going to see how I get on with the moog, I've spent a decent amount on getting it upgraded, want to enjoy it for a min 6 months I recon.
