I made a short clip on how to use MIDI and iMPC.

A couple more feature requests for iMPC:
-Layering sounds like Renaissance/Studio (drag and drop multiple sounds onto one pad)
-iOS universal (it'd be nice to carry a smaller device, on-the-go)

By the way, Beatmaker 2 is great for those who want to use one app to do an entire composition. I like the straightforward look and feel of iMPC. I own both.

Imagine.

There is a renowned company, known for it's expertise in producing pro-quality samplers. The name alone makes people ooh and ahh and brings back memories for anyone who's ever used one of their machines.

They decide, for whatever reason, to jump on the ipad bandwagon. "We must embrace new technology!"exclaims a senior vice president of marketing confidently! He continues, "We own this space and have an absolute right in the minds of our consumers to produce the best beatmaking hardware on the ipad platform ever!"

1.5 years later we, the consumers, get the fruits of this visionary proclamation!

Are these guys **** kidding? This app is a godamn travesty for a small unknown company, much less one with the legacy of Akai.

Sometimes I still laugh out loud about the beat kangz and that time some English dude hacked the Akai marketing website and stole a bunch of pictures of the Ren before it was released.

Well, assuming that's what will happen. No one's doing any clowning of forum members in this thread (at the moment)! Just talking about the app!

BUT, Maschine's sounds/pads are, in theory, tracks. So given iMaschine's 16 pads per 4 groups, that's 48 tracks/sounds that can be effected individually or exported individually as stems! :wink:

It actually is pretty limiting. It's easy to just throw a bunch of shit on one track. But the issue, for one, is exporting. Nothing can be individually exported; not conveniently anyway. Secondly, the MPC is BIG on it's swing. With only 4 tracks, you're gonna be forced to apply the same swing setting to multiple instruments, which is mostly not ideal! 16 tracks for this app would have been perfect, even if they had to charge $9.99. But 4 tracks?! Nah son!

I can't speak on it much further as I don't have an iPad nor care to acquire this product. I can't believe that I waisted 30 minutes even talking about a $10 app. :lol:
