PADS 5/8 DONT work or no sound. any ideas on how to fix thi

whats up everyone. well i just got a mpc2000xl from ebay. the seller has perfect scores and it was a pawn shop so i figured everything worked. but anyways i just got it and plugged it in and loaded up some sounds and noticed pads 5 through 8 dont play a sound when i hit them. does this happen to older mpcs like is there some standard issue with these that a shop could fix or what. also is there any way to double check to see if the pads arent muted or somthing. this is my first mpc so i dont know much about them. i hope im just doing something wrong.

Test the pads

to do that press Shift +5 to get into trim mode then

press Shift + f1

then f5 and f5 again to test the pads hope this helps peace.

ya i just did that and they are not working. but i did find that you can buy a new ribbon strip to fix the problem. would this also be why sometimes when i hit a pad i sometimes get double hits when i only hit the pad once

New sensors will fix the pads, the double triggering is supposed to happen I think. It happens when you hit the pad a certain way, it's called a flam note, you just have to get familiar with the pads.

I think it's a glitch, not an intentional feature. Everyone has double triggering on their 2000/XL so it's no biggy though.

Finger bouncing on the pad, giving a second trigger after the initial hit, modify playing style to avoid it.

Adjusting how you hit the pads will help, buts its definitely caused for the most part by the machine/pad design. I've never had other devices with velocity sensitive pads react like the 2000/XL with double triggering. It Is almost like a flam feature, I can see why someone would think that.
