I have a Numark TTUSB and when I plug the rca cables to my MPC1000 it wont record to the MPC. What am I doing wrong. I could really use some help.

Personnally, i also have a USB turntable (audio-technica), but i don't plug it directly to my MPC/computer. I plug the TT's RCAs to my DJ mixer and then, mixer's RCAs to my MPC2500. Your TTUSB has a built-in preamp so it should work the way you have plugged it.

What do you do then, what have you try ? Did you read the manual ?

First off, thanks for not being a dick. What I've done is plugged in the rca's from the TT and then I press mode then record. From that point I que up what I want to sample, play the record and press start on the MPC. I end up getting nothing.

Questions that cross my mind:

1) Do you see the MPC's level meters move while you are recording or while the TT is playing (when in record mode) ?

2) Is the record knob loud enough ?

3) Do you have a switch on your TT for preamp on/off ?

4) Do you have other sounds in your MPC so you can confirm that sounds are audible from your MPC ?

4) If you have other sounds, can you hear them when in trim mode ?

5) Is it your first time with an MPC/first MPC ?

6) Did you read both manuals (AKA how to connect devices together, how to play/record, playback, etc) ?

You're in good hands with this book.

Seems to me that the problem is either related to your TTUSB output settings or your MPC input settings / physical inputs.

Try this thread, maybe...

viewtopic.php?f=26&t=141530

Or...

search.php?keywords=TTUSB+record+problem&terms=all&author=&sc=1&sf=all&sk=t&sd=d&sr=posts&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search

Or, the search function of this site.

With the combination of the book you refered to and the search function, i believe you will be able to find answers to all of your questions.

Another tip: When searching in the e-book, try Ctrl+F to look for keywords.

Good luck.

I have tried everything that I could think of and have become pretty upset and stil no luck.
I just want to sample and get to work. Even though my TT comes with a preamp, should I just go get a mixer?

1. Make sure the switch is in "RCA Line" position
2. Make sure you connect the plugs to MPC "Record input" jacks, not anywhere else.

The Record Input is quarter inch jack, so you can't connect RCA cables there directly without adapters like these:

The RCA jacks on back of MPC 1k are digital input and output, connecting turntable in there won't have any effect.

I will pick some adapters up tonight and let you know how it goes. Also, is my digital interface useless? Should I trade it in for a mixer? Or is that a stupid question.

 Are you serious ?

This is the FIRST chapter of the book you said you bought, starting on page 17 :

"001 Audio Connections"

Did you even open the book ?

Please, you should read the manual first, aka RTFM.

Just remember, your TTUSB has a built-in preamp so in your case, you don't really need a mixer to sample from your TT.

I took your advise cly. Thanks man. I'm in business now. And to the dude talking shit, you make this website annoying. Just because I'm not a guru like you doesn't mean you have to talk shit. I'm just looking for help so go back to your dungeons and dragons game and don't waste your time on me.

Hey, we are talking about chapter 1 of a book you bough but never took the time to read.

People who ask questions without having read the fundamental skills section (first chapter) of their manual are the ones who make this website annoying.

These people depend on other people's answers, all the time.

Waste of time for the people who really try to help.

Then don't read posts like mine and move on. Plain and simple. Your taking time out of your day just to tell me I'm dumb. Let me do things my way and you do things your way. I'm just trying to better my self by asking advise. What's so wrong with that? If that books so rad then why have this website at all?
