Hi-

Got my MPC about a month or two ago, mostly for use as a midi sequencer for a couple synths.

Learning is a slow process, and I've finally gotten to a point where it's time to explore the q-link sliders.

So I went to [MODE] A1 (SLIDER). Tried to set it to affect some MIDI CC messages, but nothing happened when I moved the slider.

Then I tried something that must be easier and more predicable, like Q1>TEMPO.

This is where I began to suspect that the sliders were broken:

I set up Q1>TEMPO in the slider screen, and set a range like LOW:30 HIGH: 300, and no matter where I set the slider, the current value was always showing 256bpm. Adjusting the range would sometimes change the value of the tempo, but it was always proportional to the max--as if the slider was stuck at about 85% of maximum--but it was moving smoothly.

Q2 also exhibited the same behavior, but no matter where I set the slider, it was stuck at the maximum value of the range.

Is there some sort of mode where I can recalibrate the sliders? Some other way to test them? and is there a cheap way to fix them?

Thanks very much everybody!

Open up the MPC (look it up on youtube). On the left hand side is the PCB for the Q-link sliders. At the bottom of said PCB there is a white port which has a ribbon cable connected to it that disappears off under the pads.

Unplug this ribbon cable (carefully!) from the port. Now if you look at the port, you should see 4 little pins. Bend them down towards the PCB. Now plug the ribbon cable back in making sure you get the pins in the holes. Try not to bend them upwards when you do this.

Plug your MPC back in and test the sliders before putting the body back on (be careful not to touch the PCBs while it's plugged in).
