The thread about it is probably somewhere miles down there,
but back in the day I multisampled my Roland analogue drum machine and put a different sample in each Zone, and then modulated Zone Select (at Note On) with the output of a Random LFO.
It's quite nice, it gives you a slight "analogue feel".
